ok i pmed u seriously this time.
Youth, im doing a degree in 3dsmax in teh UK its the only Computer Game Design Degree in the UK. Im also doing maya, Blizzard use exclusivly maya but alot of companys do use max.. otherwise they wouldnt have the money to release new editions once every 6 months that sell for so much
I said the US. I had said that pro companies do not use it, like blizzard. Maya is the most powerful engine out there. The reason 3ds Max can afford all those versions is because it's the easiest program to learn and use. How far into college are you; what year?Quote:

Next year we are making character models and intergrating them into the hl2 engine (in 3dsmax)
I guess it's alright for a first year, however, I wouldn't go about bragging of 3ds max. Like I said it is not the program of choice; one of the reasons most developers make their own engines, IE; Half Life 2.Quote:

@zolaks
You have gained my respect.
you too man
What renderer do you use? If you have some spare bucks I suggest picking up finalrender- 1
Takes longer to render but the results are well worth it.
And agree'd, 3dsmax is a stepping stone and a nice program to learn at first, but companies do use it alot. Maya is by far the best out there.
i use Solid Works for all my 3D making, a whole lot better program for 3D work.
