I would have to agree with corenex and I'm sorry if it may sound harsh but anyone could easily make that with paint that's probably just a font with some extra colours that's not a "real" sig mate imo 0/10 =|

Ontopic: Decent for first attempt, try blending the render a bit more with the background and putting up a text that would fit more to the background of the sig and render. 6/10 for first attempt. Keep up.
Thanks for the comment i will try and blend the render more and pick a more suitable text for my next sig or maybe i will edit this one.

naw, fonts is bad, the way you did it. try using different fonts, and duplicate, use the BELOW one, Gassiaun Blur. CTRL + U and put it to full black. the TOP layer, CTRL + U make it WHITE. easy to do... don't make the Siggy so plain, btw. since you brushed the back ground, just brush it abit more, and make more.. effects. 6/10, it's not that bad actually just that text sucks, and background 2 plain.
Not bad for a first, but as loxx said, needs fome text improvements and some more effects and such. But it's a good start.
Here is my second attempt. I have tried to do some of the stuff left in the comments.
Your second image wasnt a fail, wasnt bad :D but I dont like the effect on the font
not bad, but font should be something simple, yet nice. not such big and scary fonts, lol. anything will do for me. and ur render u just changed the opacity. nothing much changed, it seems to me. sry, but i won't rate.
If you took the outer glow and the bevel and emboss off of the text and made the text white. Then set the blanding options to overlay or soft light. It mite look a bit better.

Yes I like Halo. But you should change the helm of the spartan I dont like that type :(
I think 3 is best, #4 has too much of a sheet of crap in front of it. #3 would be better if you made the render sticck out more and be less effected bu the layer o' brown

OKayyyyyyy here we go
•Sharpen your render more(Filter>Sharpen>Sharpen Edges/Sharpen)
•Font makes or breaks the signature(don't use bevel and emboss, unless you are very very good at it, which in this case you still a beginner).
•Don't use the speckle kind of effect, only when you get better will you be able to do it nicely. For now work on creating a nice background, e.g use some brushes,etc or get a picture of space and give it a Gaussian blur to make it look like he is in space,etc
•The lighting is off, make sure your lighting is coming from one streamline point, don't have light in like 4 different places with 4 different light sources, there is only one light source.
•Use a creative border(this is more conventional, but it finishes the sig off IMO)
I would give you 4/10 for your sig, just below average, which isn't bad for a first sig.
Just do some more tutorials and so on, you will improve if you take it seriously.

I did these with out tutorials so i think if i read up on some i will be able to do a better job.
Well, I haven't ever used a tutorial(well for the last year and a half), but if you wanna get better faster just learn various techniques that you can use when make sigs(i.e do some tutorials)

on topic : u said u didn't use tuts? well use them! what are tuts for? lol i sucked at photoshop at starting too, but tuts made me abit better.
yes i didn't use tuts because i wanted to see what i knew about photoshop by making a sig. I am now reading tuts and slowly learning more.
