Your approach as a newcomer isn't bad, but tbh, it isn't that good.
The background and the render doesn't really flow with me.
If you're wanting to explore the cool aspects of gfx, I would search on Deviant art for tutorials. Learn to incorporate stocks, vectors, and different images like C4D into your work to give it that extra touch. :)
For the text, I always like to stay simple, as simple can be perfect.
Just read up on some tutorials and go from there.

I remember when I was a beginner too, but until now I'm not good at all :p
I would do tutorials, then experiment with what you have learnt. Honestly tutorials are the way to go, you will be surprised how much of Photoshop you havent actaully seen.
Updated it a little bit.
Made own background (through a tutorial)

ehehe we are the same style in text when i'm a beginner in making signature.
but then again I improve a little.
I suggest you to always practice and compare your work to other, because when
you see the other work you will encourage to surpass there work

Yeah comparing is what i do
For now i'm just playing around with Photoshop, and i'll get better at it sooner or later :D
reduce bevel and glow effect and make it kinda smooth
Not bad tho'
