your talking about merging a layer and no its not only in cs2, ive only used from version 7 and its been working sice than (havnt used cs2 before) so yea... anyways.. basically.

Theres a layer above the layer you want to merge into the one thats underneath, click on the one above it and hit Ctrl + E and it should merge it, and just repeat the process if u want to merge more than one layer, but if u want to merge them because you have heeps of layers and cant figure them out, put them into folders and name the folders for certain things, that way you have an idea of what each one is for, etc etc.. hope this helped.
