PHP a fractal of bad design
Although I prefer PHP, I do not think in any way it is more user friendly. The above article proves as such.

PHP a fractal of bad design

i've only had minor experience with Adobe CF and it confused me :P
As a language, PHP is painstakingly disgusting. That being said, it's popular and enterprise-capable. If I had to choose one or the other to learn, I would choose PHP because it would be much easier to make money from it, i.e. via freelancing or a career.
I like coldfusion but i prefer php not because of its design but because it's the language everyone prefers .
That made so much sense. :zippy:
You just said you only prefer PHP because everyone else does. If you truly understood PHP, or had a brain for the matter of fact, you'd prefer it because of your own liking and taste to it, not simply because everyone else likes it.
You're like the kid nobody likes, and you copy what others do to fit in.
I think im going to have to go with PHP. Although i do like coldfusion. I have started making a PHP forum, im in the fucking zone baby, and im really enjoying it. :D
His posts give me headaches sometimes.. I don't think he knows what he is talking about most of the time.. But don't mind mind him, he is on his way to omega.
I am in no way disagreeing to your taste for PHP, I am a PHP developer myself I was just pointing out how it is in no way user friendly.
This is something I can agree with, I use PHP almost every day at work (Unless I am doing a mobile application), it is enterprise-capable and very popular. But it's design is just... Horrible. But you are more likely to get a career/freelance job if you know PHP and have years of experience in it, CF is not a big market to try to get into and you are less likely to get anywhere in a career.

PHP
I'd go for PHP.
I've tried ColdFusion... briefly. I find PHP much simpler and easier to use.
Although, when I started learning PHP I found it tough... Maybe Coldfusion goes the same way.
:/
Having recently started programming myself (web programming), I found PHP the easiest and therefore my choice.
Without having any previous programming experience I looked at several books/ resources of several major languages/ technologies.
PHP, by far, appealed to me the most.
As someone completely new I'd say Python/Ruby felt more natural in terms of general syntax however at the same time it all felt a bit too abstract for my level of thinking (just like reading a book, understanding the words but not the context).
PHP is so widely used that almost any problem you run into is already solved and explained somewhere by someone and I think that is very important for new programmer.
More people code in PHP which means if/when you have problems more developers would be able to help you out imo.
