Downloaded latest vs2011 beta. And wow it hurts my eyes.
Looks like winme theme with fancy icons. Yeah I am bitchy but we will get used to it.

In my experience, most newer 2010/2011/2012 programs have tried going with a more "visual" look. In essence, it means they ruined what people have always been used to.
I've been attempting to get used to some newer 2012 programs when I had been using the older 2003/2007 (Mainly Office), and its just frustrating.
I don't see how it would hurt your eyes but if you actually worked with it, especially after long work with VS2010 you'll notice they removed some options and menu items e.g. "Set as Startup project" does not exist anymore, you have to rightclick the solution and "Configure start up projects" along with other things they removed that used to be good
the design itself is worse than VS 2010, I've been using VS 2003 2005 2008 and 2010, and for the first time the design is actually worse than it's predecessor, and it doesn't support XNA projects (yet)
so my verdict is : I'm sticking with VS2010
PS : It's Visual Studio 11 not 2011, because it's the 11th version of it, not because it came out in 2011 which it didn't
2003 was v7
2005 was v8
2008 was v9
2010 was v10
open your solution with a text editor and you'll see it too
I was disappointed when I downloaded it.. Looks like Apple helped them with the style o.o
The layout in VS2010 is even worse. Personally, I like this new "generation" of look/feel that microsoft calls "metro". Very smooth design tbh
I like the new design.
I love with companies take the modern approach, interesting to see what they come out with.
Interestingly enough, they all look alike.
I'll stick with 10 though.
I'd prefer to see better functionality over cosmetics to be honest. I could care less if everything on my system was reverted back to a Windows 95 GUI as long as the functionality was working correctly.
