    What's up with PHP forms?

    Okay, I have asked questions to many people. Researched a LOT. Yet, I have found nothing.

    I don't know what I need to make a PHP Form.
    Do I need to have my website on the web?
    Do I need MySQL?
    Do I need Mail Service?

    These questions are literally taunting me o.o they are so mean...so so mean...:(

    Please reply

    no... you dont need mysql, you dont need a mail service and it needs to be hosted on a internet server
    Code:

    <?php
    if(isset($_POST['submit'])) {

    echo $_POST['input'];
    } else {
    ?>
    <form name="input" action="test.php" method="get">
    Input: <input type="text" name="input" /><br />
    <input type="submit" value="Submit" />
    </form>
    <?php
    }
    ?>

    Your server doesn't need to be connected to the internet, either.

    Depending on what sort of form you need, you might need to use different techniques.

    For example, a login form wouldn't be the same without a database to store the user data.

    A contact form wouldn't be very useful without sending an email to whom is being contacted. (You'd need the server to be online to send emails across the web)

    If you have a home server, it's probably smart to keep it offline while testing your scripts, then when you feel they're functional/secure enough for the web, port them to your host/put your server online.

    As you get more experienced these things are like second-nature.

    Look up $_POST and $_GET on PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor

    it's really easy to get started.
