I apologize if this is the wrong section but I couldn't find a better one.

My problem: I'm using the elliptical and rectangular marquee tool to make impressions on another layer by pressing Alt + Delete to erase everything inside the marquee selection. I must have hit a button or a combination of buttons because when I accidentally bumped my keyboard and continued to use the marquee tool, it fills with selection with the selected color on the palette wheel. How do I fix this? Thanks!

Go to edit > preferences > keyboard shortcuts and find the one you want, even tought if it is selected you should only need to press delete and it would be erased.

Another option is using the Eraser tool, it'll only erase whats selected
