To cut this short I think I can sum it up...

Speed: Joint Michael Angelo Batio and Petrucci (dont argue)
Technical Licks/Riffs and Prog Style: John Petrucci
Sweeping Technique: Jason Becker

Id say that if Jason wasnt paralysed now, he'd definitely be THE best guitarist, and he'd be untouchable

As for best WRITER.... thats an entirely different thing and comes under the category of best WRITER... NOT best GUITARIST jeez :P

I think the best quitarist is TomMorello,he played whit RageAgainstTheMachine for more then 10 years and now he is playing whit Audioslave,he definetly is one of the best quitarist this world ever had...

i saw a lesson video with him shredding all over the fret board, he is insane!!!

they are hard catchy progressive riffs with musical theory off the wall.
