I have to say this, no offence but.... the thread title implies best guitar player, and those guys were amazing writers, but technically they werent amazing at playing, well, atleast when compared to JP or MAB

Steve Vai. He is a great guitarist, probably the best one I have ever heard. He should stick with just playing the Guitar, his voice sucks.

Eddie Van Halen is definetely one of the worst Guitarists I ever heard. This guy is a wannabe just like Jimi Hendrix. Whoever said Van Halen is as dumb as a brick. First of all Van Halen is the name of the band, and Eddie Van Halen is the lead Guitarist.

These people's names are lifted up by the public just like Van Gough's name is lifted up with his paintings. His paintings suck, he cant draw, and he paints images of what he sees when he gets intoxicated. People felt sorry for what happened to him, so they started buying his paintings until everyone in the World has heard of him. Compared to paintings done by I. Repin, Van Gough is a nobody. But I.Repin's paintings dont sell for even 1/100th of the price Van Gough's sell for. Compared to anyones paintings Van Gough makes himself look like a failure.

Some of the best guitarist are:

    Jimi Hendrix
    Randy Rhodes
    Dimebag Darrell
    Zakk Wylde
    Steve Vai
    Joe Satriani
    Yngwie Malmsteen
    Eddie Van Halen

I can't pick one because all had their own feel/style and which makes them all great.
