Can You Learn to Play the Drums with RockBand?

I know from playing a real guitar that playing guitar hero is nothing like actual guitar playing.

With the new game RockBand I noticed that the drum kit looks a whole lot like the electric drum sets they sell at Guitarcenter. I know with a real drum set the symbols are up higher then the snare drums, and then of course there's the base drum, but with Rockband kit has a basedrum simulator as well as 4 pads that can simulate snares and symbols.

I'm wondering if you can take what you learn on the RockBand drum kit and use that to play REAL drums?

Ofcourse.

The main thing you learn is how fast your fingers are, and how you need to move your arms. Your brains must make the drumming like an automatic process. You learn paradiddles (RLRR, LRLL), doubles (RR LL RR LL) etc etc. Thats the basic things you need.

The only thing you'll have to learn is to do stuff together (ie: snare, hihat and bass together)...

But really, I started with drums (as in bass, hihats, snare and toms) and I moved onto scottisch drumming (pipeband drumming) as that was more difficult and motivating me more. But I learnt it pretty quick, because I knew the basics from normal drumming :).

I couldn't even play drums properly when I got the drums for Rock Band. :(

The actual answer is no... You cant.. the drums for rock band are nothing like an actual drum set.

The ONLY thing it would do is give you a better internal beat, and maybe increase your forearm muscles.
