i play drums really good. :D
Well in my metal band I am the guitarist singer.
But I also play the bass, drums, recorder (well everybody learned that in school xD), a bit of piano and the balalaika.
But I am mostly good at singing/screaming and the guitar.
This topic has been started about 3 times haha. But beings I'm in a good mood I'll allow it. Just because it's been awhile.
I was section leader for the battery (drums) in high school, and now college. I am also the high school's drum instructor.
I play acoustic guitar, regular guitar, stand up bass, electric bass, and drums.
I also give lessons in all of the above...
I also play piano...but don't teach...
hey dacheat,
can u give me some tips on playing drums using double pedals? coz when i use it, i always get my high hat or my crash ride inconsistent. i mean, it "gets off the beat".
if u can, then nice. i really wanna play using double pedals. :D
I am not really a drummer but this is good with all instruments.
It's called practice and patience. I know the double pedal is a real pain in the ass at first I am not focused on drums and never mastered it myself well thats also because I don't need to learn the drums :p
Well it took me a few years to be able to shred right on my guitar and you wont imagine the hours I past playing silly exercises but in the end it was worth it.
An other thing to do is master the pedal slowly and with a metronome up the temp a little bit at the time when you are comfortable with the tempo that helped a lot of people a lot but lot of people hate working with a metronome but it's a must especially fro drummers hehe. Unless your a natural lol
hmmm.. practice and patience huh??
i've been practicing using double pedals like for 1 year now. not yet long enough? well since you said it. i will just practice and w8.. >.>
What's happening is you don't have enough muscle in your ankles/legs to keep a beat. And you don't practice your rudiments.
First off, practice your rudiments on a practice pad. Second you need to practice them on your set. You start to do that by playing hands only, or feet only. You need to start slow and use a metronome (you should always practice with a metronome though...always)
Good rudiments to use on a set are: diddles, single and double paradiddles, triplets, Lesson 25s, flams, and the list goes on. Start slooooow until you can play them in your sleep. THEN bump the metronome up one or two clicks. That's right, only one or two clicks. No More. If you go more then that you'll just want to play faster and faster, but the problem is you wont be able to and get defeated by it.
What I do is just sit down in front of the tv with my practice pad with a click track in my ear. I only practice 1 rudiment a week. Yes it's boring playing the same thing over and over, but in the long run it pays off.
An awesome site to practice rudiments is here. They break down every rudiment into 5 speed zones plus show you a video if you want.
The good thing about being a drummer is, you can practice anywhere! Next time you're sitting in class bored out of your mind, start doing some paradiddles with your hands or feet. You can always tell who the drummers are in a room, because they annoy the shit out of everybody else by playing on their desk. haha
As sad as it is, 1 year is nothing... I've been playing for over 12 years and I still practice every day.
A great site for drummers is right here, it will link you to a bunch of well known drummers.
I hope this helps, remember that the only way to get better is to practice. The more you practice, the better you get. And the more you practice your rudiments the cleaner you will get, and THAT is the key to being a good drummer.
oh. so i need more muscles on my legs. but how can i do it? use barbel on my foot? >.> or i'll put weights(like 5 - 7 kg) on my feet while practicing on my set?
Some people...just can't use the god damn search feature. Is it to much to ask? Honestly, we're not asking for the impossible here.
Anyways, I've played guitar for almost 13 years now. I own a 57 Fender Strat and an Ibanez JS1200.
I play the guitar, bass and I know the basics on drums.
