Why the fuck do people hate when a band becomes popular? Also, yea they suck live, oh well, at least they're still amazing studio side which is how you'll hear them the most. Dragonforce is simply awesome, and they deserve any popularity they get, even if it is stupid kiddies who only know one song.
Yeah let's be perfectly simple about this, there are shitloads of great bands on this planet, but you only listen to a handful for the simple reason that you don't know the others. You can't expect people to go through thousands of shit bands to get to a few good ones. Not to mention that most bands don't survive because it takes up a lot of time without making any money, nor do they have the best guitars, drums etc, so yeah labels are needed to make them big so they can continue making music. Key being ofcourse that they don't sell out to make pop music.
Anyway for some reason people like being fan of a unknown band and then later like whining (read: bragging) about how they knew them before they got big and how they hate it that everyone knows them now...
You should be glad if 1 of your favorite bands gets popular, that more people listen to their music. Yes most of them only know TTFAF due to GH3, however because of that a lot of people got interested in the rest of their music and got a whole bunch of real fans.
So really, be happy for the band that gets famous, be happy for all the new fans who've found music they enjoy, and stop your whining about it.
This makes a lot of sense to me. And I'm glad you posted it Gohan. I've been listening to DragonForce since Valley Of The Damned. And they really have grown as a band. It's all a matter of opinion what you guys think of Herman Li. Fact is, he can play guitar very well and has a lot of talent. Not just his speed, but his innovative sounds. I'm glad that DragonForce finally got recognized yet at the same time, I'm disappointed that they have been blown out of style by their appearance on GH3.
