House Passes Crazy Music Bill
Well the House passed a music bill saying that if they find 1 illegal .mp3 they can take your computer that had the music on it, including all the extra fines.... For the whole story go to http://www.boingboing.net/2008/05/09...s-bill-th.html
This is freaken crazy... I dunno what the Senate will do, but if this passes I'll be pissed. A good point in this artical is at the end.
Your thoughts?

Yeah haha I know... That would piss me off to get my computer/s taken from me, and still have to pay their huge fines...
Although I don't know how they can do that as of now. Like the artical says they have no way of knowing if anybody had music from MSN Music. Which leads me to believe they'd have to edit it, which might lighten it up a bit, but who knows.

Re: House Passes Crazy Music Bill
How exactly can they find out if your MP3s are illegal? For all they know they could be legit.

Re: House Passes Crazy Music Bill
That's the thing that people are getting upset about. As of now there's no way of knowing.

Re: House Passes Crazy Music Bill
Well there's the blatant obvious ways if all the file tags are incomplete or incorrect, naming etc compared to the original CD file names, but if everything like that is all done properly then there's really no way to tell the difference. Unless they start putting some kind of tracker on CD's which will more than likely be cracked in time.
