Is music crappy lately, or am i just getting old?

What happened to the the genre thats out to change everything. I mean in the eighties we had groups like Depeche Mode and Prince and David Bowie, all doing things that had never been done, all artists you can listen to to get something "different". In the 90's we had alternative, but that seems to have died as well. You remember, groups like Everclear smashing pumpkins green day and so on and so forth.

There doesn't seem to be music that's "different" right now. I know there's a couple notable examples, but they used to be more obvious.

The Mars Volta is different but only in terms of music being put out now. Stick em in the late 80's and they would fit in like "white on rice".

Who out there is making music, that will change music? I really want to know, cause the crap im hearing, it seems to me that no one is taking any risk in the industry lately.

No music in general sucks. When record labels figured that they didn't need to sell singles anymore music went down hill.

It's all fake, I'd say only 5% is talent, the other is Auto Tune and Beat Detective.

The radio. That's crap. I know plenty of great bands that make great music today. Then again my style lies in the folk/soul/indie genre. But I have my fair share of punk too. Good punk.

I believe that music is not getting crappier,
well, slightly, but not that much of a big deal to cut out bands.
I mean, the style of music/genre people like is changing, and gets crappier every decade,
such as you saying the 90s were about alternative, one of the best genres,
and now the 2000s its all about hip-hop and rap.

In my opinion RnB,Hip Hop, and Rap killed music because they were the first kind of music to add beats and auto tune like the people above said... Avenged Sevenfold and Atreyu sound amazing live though

Avenged Sevenfold sound amazing live yes, but they are one out of a few bands that thier music actually has meaning to it, have you ever listened to the words of the songs, they are all about freedom, war on terror, and the troops, i personally like "Seize the Day" but all of thier songs i can listen to without skipping forward to another

Seize the Day, Almost Easy, Bat Country, Critical Acclaim, and After Life are my favorite songs from them. Avenged Sevenfold is probably one of the best bands out there at the moment.

I don't like modern day music, since it's mostly pop groups who release a few song then everyone forgets about them. I prefer 80s music myself, like Led Zeppelin, GnR, Iron Maiden etc. since back then there was good talent. Nowadays any idiot who can come up with a catchy tune can get signed (that's my opinion, don't judge me on it please, I'm only an idiot )

I used to hate so many things about modern music and I used to listen to Avenged Sevenfold all the time because subconsciously I wanted to hear the talent and skill being put into the music from people who love it as opposed to the T-Pain and Kanye West copycats that dominate modern music.

After hearing Muse, I don't even think of that shit anymore. Hearing teens blast the voicebox radio in their car makes me laugh as opposed to upset or disappointed. Muse just took me a few levels higher.

It really all depends on your musical taste, Because most modern metal bands are Death or black metal, MetalCore, Hardcore, Deathcore, They aren't the same nowadays, And if you listen to rap you should be shot, I hate it.

he doesnt mean just crappy songs, it that they always use voice tuners in the songs, so when you hear them live, they suck, and songs dont have meaning anymore, thats the main reason i like Avenged Sevenfold, they sound good live and thier music has meaning to it, i mean cmon rap nowadays "im in a boat" i mean wft?!?!?!
