i dont really listen to rap much but i have 1 song
twista - sunshine
Virtuoso is the man. www.myspace.com/bigvirtuoso
i don't like this music much. serious no offence, but what is this?! but i mean, what the !@$ is this?! some rythmnic talking all the way, with a couple of beats made by a DJ sounding in the background??? absoluty no sense in the lyrics - all about partying 24/7, having sex, doing drugs, and being a tough hardcore 'gangsta'. what the hell is this?! seriously, it got no message at all, not talking about the lack in some tiny bit of melody.
honest, even gore metal has more melody than this.
true, not all the metal you hear has much melody, nor messageful lyrics. but at least there is much veriaty both in lyrical themes and in the sound - that's why metal has so many subgenre, unlike rap/hip hop. hell, even bands of the same subgenre have a complete different sound. to me, all the rap sounds the same - quick talking and a few beats in the background.
The tune from 2pac - Changes is where he talks about the world's change and how it affected many lives including his, dont you think there is a message here?Originally Posted by Unleashed Hell
Also, you think Metal or hard rock or death metal has a message? 1 guitar, 1 guy screaming = not understandable.
umm.. actually death metal, especially Melodic death metal is way far from 1 guy screaming and 1 guitar. i think that the metal you're talking about is Black Metal, Gore metal, BRUTAL death Metal, and Grind MetalOriginally Posted by Injektio
The standard Melodic Death Metal lineup is:
Lead Vocals - Usaully Growling/Harsh(which are understand standable usually) and clean vocals.
Lead Guitar - Solos and such parts, 'leading' the melody.
Rythm Guitar - Back up Guitar which support the lead melody
Keyboards - supports the melody and sometimes is lead.
Bass - works similiarly as the Rythm guitar, and sometimes does Bass solos.
Drums - well, what there is to say? Percussion.
Now, you want some Metal with message? here you go:
Metallica - Dispossable Heroes:
This song is about war. It tell us that war is not a joke, as James Hetfield sings 'No one to play soldier now, no one to pretend', and tell of how the the soldiers sent to battle are litteraly sent to slaugher, like cattle -
soldier boy, made of clay
now an empty shell
twenty one, only son
but he served us well
Bred to kill, not to care
just do as we say
finished here, Greeting Death
he's yours to take away
(taken from the song's lyrics)
Want more message in metal? here you go!
Disturbed - Believe:
The song is about one's beliefs. The message is simple, yet very important - Believe in yourself! Don't trust religionL:'To renew your faith in God
You must believe, in your lie', sings David Draiman. trust only yourself, your will and the people close to you: 'penance can't obsolve your sins', he says. and true, no matter how religions you become and how much you follow the laws in the Bible, your past lives on, and no matter how many times the priest would tell you 'you are forgiven, my child' and all that crap, your mistakes will not be undone, and you can't undo them, never.
Moreover,
Deathstars - Semi-Automatic:
Plain, simple and genious. You can't trust The System. From any point it will find a way to screw you up. 'It's Planet Hell, cause of all the synthetic minds that fails us!
Trashed into the ministry under which we fail to live our lives!' as said in the song by Whiplasher, you can't trust no group or organization, all could easily destroy you're life for no reason, just to achieve it's interests. Once again, trust yourself, and only certain people, no one else.
I'll post another couple of songs with great meanings, to make sure you shut your face about the meaninglessness in metal.
Iron Maiden - Blood Brothers:
You know what they say, "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer". Well, I'll stick to the first part of this saying while I'm talking about this song. This song speaks about keeping our friends and loved ones close to us, and no matter what, for as long as you can, because it won't last forever. It speaks about the unimaginable pain when we loose our loved ones, as Steve Harris, Maiden's bassist, wrote this song after his father's death.
And finnally, a Death Metal song, with some aggressive, but useful and true meaning.
Hypocrisy - Fearless:
'I don't care what you need.
I only do it to please me.
There's no excuse's from my point-of-view.
You're pulling me left and right.
I've had it up to here.
It's making me sick to see you alive.
Enough of conspiracy
'Cause you cannot win.
Like a bomb I release my anger.
I'll be peeling your skin.
I'm gonna walk away.
You wont be holding me back.
I'm not afraid of you
So just get out of my way.
I'll destroy your life
'cause you were pulling me down.
You reached the end of the road
So just get out of my way.
So just get out of my way.
This is what they sing during the 1st verse and chorus. Now tell me, what is uncorrect with blasting that bastard's face open, when he tries to FORCE you not to do what you want to do, after you're damn sure about it and you know you can't be stopped? I completly agree with this song. No one should allow anything to stand in his way. Now, don't get it wrong, you should and better hear out one's opion about what you're doing and consider what he said, but it's up to you to decide what you do and how. After the final decision, no one, but absolutly NO ONE should try to stop you from doing it.
Of course it depends on what you gonna do, like if you're going to do drugs, or abuse people with no reason, then one must be stopped from doing it. But if you have a reason for doing you're deed, you mustn't be disturbed from acomplishing your goal.
Now you see there is a message behind the metal song?
I posted you here a whole FIVE songs(and trust me I know more than just these 5 meaningful songs), with deeply described meanings, compare to your one tiny song of 2pac's about that the world can change people, or something like that, which was described in, about 2 lines...?
Seriously, man, no offence to you. Don't get me wrong, I know you're Lebanoni and I didn't write it to abuse you. You were talking without knowing nothing what you're saying, and I hate when people do it.
hehehe... very,very good work hell...
i just hope that u helped some of them to open their eyes(or i guess their ears :P)
oh and btw...that 1 quitar with 1 guy screaming music may not be understandable to u but they are others that they understand them pretty well mr.injektio...
i like some metal but I think its a bit to noisy for my taste hehehe, but theres some songs i still listen to and well rap talks about gangsters more then real life... and stuff
Rap and hip hop has a message on every song there is, take a look at Eminems songs, "Cleaning out my closet, Mocking Bird etc"
I only mentioned 1 above which was 2pac.
I still dont understand the meaning of the music, end of the day, we have our taste, I stick to something smooth, relaxing and chilling, not something which makes you bang your head on the wall, smash a guitar on a speaker, im guessing that has a meaning too?
Also, Gore, Black, Hard Metal was the thing I was talking about as their image is "Black, death and gore" which has nothing to cheer up anyone or make anyone dance, people are already suffering from death etc and having gore, metal etc images isn't helping.
I know your probably going to blame the crimes on hip hop, rap gangsters but then again I can blame Heroin and other drugs which are used on Rock.
bro not everybody are the same... tell me sick or crazy but with this music i relax not headbang my head on the walls all the time... and not every song is based on death and/or misery :P...
what the hell is the last part about??? i believe that ppl have some sort of inteligence...its on them on how to use it... now if someone makes a crime y music is involved??? thats just my opinion... oh and btw can u explain to me the meaning of an eminem song like "Cleaning out my closet''???
calm down people...music is music, although I do not listen to rap myself, I respect it...as should all of you.
Just because you may not like the same style of music as others doesn't mean that the music itself is bad...
