i'm sorry if i sounded offending, but i just gave my opinion about it. i'm not trying to covert you all into metalheads or anything, i just gave MY opinion about rap, and my opninion is that it's shit. I don't mind if others people like it and would listen to it 24/7. let them. that's all i wanted to say.

sorry if i offended any1. good day.

    :edit:
and man, injektio, you still say that metal is all about gore death etc and that it's all about crushing and destroying things! omg! you're an idiot or something?! i just gave you FIVE FULLY-DETAILED examples(and there are many more), that metal isn't just about death, gore, etc, actually, the only subgenres that do speak only and only about it is Black Metal and Gore Metal. Death Metal itself has many different lyrical subjects including life-situations, self-confidance(like i mentioned in Hypocrisy - Fealess), and many more. just give a search in metalarchieves.com, and you'll see what i'm talking about.
and one more thing, looks like you never really got to hear any kind of metal other than what you described as 'death metal'. if you weren't so narrow-minded, you would know it's not all like what you say: 1 guitar, 1 asshole screaming, and headbanging onto the wall, and smashig guitars. honest, i've never heard of a normal metal band that smashed they're equipment on shows or whatsoever, espcially, no metal band, but abosutly no metal band, or any metal fan i know, doesn't smash his head on the wall.
if thats the image you get from metal, you probably watch too much movies, or believe in too much streotypes.
dude, get real! i guess i wouldn't be able to change your image on metal, but look at this: you say that all the rap has some meanings? most of the songs talk about the subjects i mentioned above in a previous reply, and if a couple of rappers tried to put some sense in it, it doesn't change much. Now, don't feed me this 'you don't know what you saying' crap, because i used to listen to rap some years ago, and i know what i'm saying. besides, i know i know what's happening in the music world, and i know that all the rap you hear today is all bout ego, stuff like "yea yea, look yo i'm such a dangerous gangsta, yo i have all the girls, yea, and you suck, no one can beat me, yo" all is this shit. and don't try to tell me i'm wrong.

I'm just kind of confused because youre getting all pissed that someone made a generalization about metal, but you respond by making one about rap.
You've probably been exposed the the complete shit thats all over the radio. But if you look at all, you can definitely find rap with really complex and more interesting beats, and subject matter that's unrelated to being 'gangsta,' and can even be thought provoking.

no, i don't make a generalization about rap. every goddamn rapper i know, besides 2pac and eminem(but 2pac is already dead, and eminem is now starting to be like everyone), they all sing just about sex, drugs, party 24/7 and 'hardcore gangstas'. when they all behave according to the so called 'generalization' you i made, it's not a generalization anymore. i don't maybe there are some rappers with mind that might have put some sense into it, but i don't know any besides 2pac, and eminem(old times). all you get today is mostly trash, and in metal too - many new bands are some kind of EmoCore or completly all about money, or in other words, NU Metal.

Yes, that's exactly what im saying. Just because most of the metal you hear on the radio and such today is crappy, you don't just assume that all metal must suck. It's the same thing with rap. I'm admitting that most of the stuff on the radio is complete shit, and like you said "all about money," but you can't just say that all rap is the same way. I'm not saying you should like it. I'm just saying that the basis of all rap isn't sex, drugs, partying, and being a "hardcore gangsta," like you seem to make it out to be.

yeah well 2pac and sometimes eminem are worth of attention. I listen to 2pac's records A LOT and I love it but the new stuff is all the same. That's why i don't really listen to it. And music doesn't always have to bring up a message. It should entertain sometimes and that's it.

I get beat up by chavs so i go home listen to my dads iron maiden
cds and then i go to a gig and me and my mates are all in black
and we'll mosh and proberly won't come out with a scratch
and i'll buy a guitar but chances are i won't ever learn to play it
it's just so I look cool
and then after going on myspace i'll go on rage zone and say
all other music other then HARDCORE SUPER POWER PROGRESSIVE DUPER ROCK is shit hip-hop and rap is shit i've never heard any decent songs
but it doesn't matter because i'm all about rock and roll man I don't have
anything to rock about, and i'm boring and predictable.

and this post won't change my mind because I have the confidence and intelligence of a twelve year old.

ps - good resources for hip-hop are winamp radio and certain other obvious places I can't mention due to warez being illgeal on this forum

    favourites include

    eminem
    the ali g soundtrack
    fast and the furious soundtrack
    dizzy rascal
    snoop dogg
although personally im more into garage and dnb and indie

nearly forgot royce 5'9 (did some of the better songs on gta 3 on game fm)
