I voted Grindcore. Fav. bands, probably Cryptopsy, Beneath the Massacre, The Berzerker (industrial grind), Decapitated (death/ going on girndcore), The Arcane War Machine (search on myspace.com for them and beaneath the massacre).
Best out of those bands(and most technical/heavy) is probably Beaneath the Massacre, they're not huge, but you can download some of their stuf on bearshare/limewire etc.

The band Doomriders is Classic Heavy/Thrash Metal, judging by their sound. and they sound pretty good, by the way.
If Hair Metal were here I'd choose it.. that's basically the same thing as metal pioneers so I've edited the option =p
One thing on that, Behemoth used to be black. They've changed genres over the albums. They went from Pegan Black Metal, to a Satanic Blackened Death kinda thing, to strait up brutal/melodic death metal (im speaking of the album Demigod).
