Music's like a religion. The majority of people can't have a proper discussion on it without it becoming a flame of "Mi moozik pwns yers".

You get a few Trance/Dance/House (whatever sub-genre you prefer) topics too.

Anyone else that does listen to other genres (Yes! I know! Other genres DO exist! /sarcasm) who does post get ignored. Or at worst it decends into the whole one user feels self rightious enough to dismiss an entire genre with stereotypes.

Puts people off. This was always gonna be Metal Lounge.

I even predicted it when this section was 1st requested: https://forum.ragezone.com/showthread.php?p=618370

Excuse my spelling of "Rock" in that thread. I was in a pissy mood.

Metal and Rock are really the only music topics worth talking about in today's society because it's really the only type of music that reaches out to people not just in the U.S. but all around the world (especially in Europe). Rap and R & B are popular just not in the broad sense that Metal and Rock are. But I agree, we do need to "diversify".

I say we need to talk about real music...jazz... now anybody who hasn't taken theory lessons will probably think im a loser for saying that, but for real...not that crappy Kenny G. jazz im talking about some Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, or Maynard Ferguson. Now that! is music.

rock an metal isnt all thats out there thats good. Theres some really badass classical guitar players, neo-classical, smooth jazz, jazz in general, blues, hell even some fiddle players impress me just because of their skill. Rock nowadays is super repetitive and is already fading fast like general hip-hop. If you listen to the radio, most bands are just putting out the same stuff and calling it a diffrent song.

Anyways what we gotta do is get underground and cool music from ever genre. Im pretty sure that if you took some time to sift through other types of music, you'll find something you'll like. So im pretty sure if we got some people knowledgable in all types of music to band together (come together) i'm pretty sure we could compose a bitchen playlist of a lot of diffrent types of music thats bound to appeal to a lot of people here.

The only jazz I truly enjoy is some Eric Clapton, but then again he's really blues/classic rock. Close enough for me.

From personal experience (of other ppl and myself included) most ppl don't care too much for music recomendations from people on the net. The recomendation is nothing without an example peice of music. Hey presto! Rapidshare! But then most people don't care enough to download and find out. Streaming is what's needed.

Edit: Sorry. I feel like complaining today. Exam stress.

I agree. We need instant music. It should be able to be like, "Wow this is fucking awsome...I'm going to go download more of this kick ass shit." Streaming would be extremely kick ass to have. It'll be like a kick in the nuts to those fat asses who sit at their comp and post all day. (No offense meant to those of you who do.) If I can just get my fucking comp to comply with my wishes, I could get this Battle of the Bands idea started.

My idea mainly comes from what the Portfolio section has. People postin their sigs, and others vote on who's the best. We could do the same. Instead of a theme of art, we could have a particular genre. And winners could be awarded some neat prizes every once in a while. For example, a free 3-6 month subscription to ragezone or free t-shirt. Something like that.
