Nicki Minaj stupid hoe lol is a joke song altho she might be like the next Eminem
None of you would know good music if it jumped out of your ipod and bit you in the face. Both eminem and nicki minaj are shit.
They're not 'rappers' or 'gangsters'.
Take a look at eazy e or ice cube or something more then that.
Lol you just sounded dumb.
Come on now man.
The point of rappers isn't to be ''gangsta''
Eminem is one of the best rappers, although he has gone downhill with his music. (idk wtf he's doing)
But his LP's & older albums are the shit and are the true meaning of rap.
All this rap you hear on radios today, isn't rap. It's mostly Hip-hip and shit.
Actually, Eminem (and the band D12 in general) have always been classified as "Hip-hop" here... not Rap. However, Hip-hop is typically vocalised in a "rap" form.
From my point of view, Rap is a larger and more encompassing genre. It's like saying "that's not rock, it's metal" ... Err, yea but no. Rock covers everything with a 4:4 beat, 4 up 4 down... and that's Dance and Disco and Trance and Metal and Punk and Gotic and a lot of Blues many many more. Rap is any vocal accompaniment which is not predominantly tuneful. (ie, the lyrics are spoken more than they are "sung") But a lot of thrash metal vocals would now fall into that category, and Punk and Metal bands have been flirting with more traditional Rap accompaniment since the early '90s.
Gangster rap is certainly one popular sub-genre, but it's not the end of the story. (thank goodness) I quite liked Lil Wayne. His tracks topped the R&B charts here ... so that was clearly how our critics "classified" his style.
Decent artists will always be hard to classify. Their art will move genres on, merge them together etc. Punk Rock and Reggie have always been very good at this, and the underground electronica dance movement always has (each time "the industry" picks up on the current state it steals the name and commercialises it so I can't give a "genre" title there... was Acid, then Hip-Hop, then Garage, then Hardcore, then Underground and even that was stolen) but all music should.
As for good music jumping out of your iPod and biting you... that's just an oxymoron, because the only good music is *live* music. An iPod is not a talented musician and can only reproduce recorded sound. (admittedly some can stream live performances, but that's not quite the same as being there) Putting it in "shuffle" does not make it a skilled DJ.That's not "good", it's just a trailer for the *real* show.
