rock n' roll (im assuming your talking about the good stuff) has stuff about sex and drugs but there made into "creative" wording not the f-word every two words

    Re: Rap

Here's the only rap song worth listening to:

Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I liked to take a minute
    Just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air

In west Philadelphia born and raised
On the playground was where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And all shootin some b-ball outside of the school
    When a couple of guys
Who were up to no good
Startin making trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
She said 'You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air'

I begged and pleaded with her day after day
But she packed my suite case and send me on my way
She gave me a kiss and then she gave me my ticket.
I put my walkman on and said, 'I might as well kick it'.

First class, yo this is bad
Drinking orange juice out of a champagne glass.
Is this what the people of Bel-Air Living like?
    Hmmmmm this might be alright.

But wait I hear there're prissy, wine all that
Is Bel-Air the type of place they send this cool cat?
    I don't think sow
I'll see when I get there
I hope they're prepared for the prince of Bel-Air

Well, the plane landed and when I came out
There was a dude who looked like a cop standing there with my name out
I ain't trying to get arrested
    I just got here
I sprang with the quickness like lightening, disappeared

I whistled for a cab and when it came near
The license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror
If anything I can say this cab is rare
But I thought 'Now forget it' - 'Yo homes to Bel Air'

I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8
And I yelled to the cabbie 'Yo homes smell ya later'
    I looked at my kingdom
    I was finally there
To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air

    QFT

And rock guy, (forgot name) Its more rare because more people wanna do it. But if it was only a small group of people like rock n roll obviously less would be crap. The point is tons more people prefer rap than rock n roll so there is more people to critic.

Ok, I tried my best to avoid this thread at all costs. Mainly because I despise rap and everything it stands for. But, mainly because it isn't music at all. It's bad poetry but to a simple beat and is music for the simple minded. This is all my opinion of course.

Now, about your comment on more people prefer rap over rock...NO. Are you retarded? Rap wouldn't even exist if it hadn't been for rock. Actually, I take that back. Rap has it's roots in African American folk songs that were sung around the 1870s. It only became popular around the 1960s.

Post more later, gotta take exam.

It is endless, but if everyone can keep in mind that not everyone likes what they do, then this thread will say a good discussion. I almost locked it right away when it was first posted, but left it open to see how everyone would handle it. So far it's been great.

    Re: Rap

Rap is a way to express yourself. For a sample 50 cent, he may rap about girls, drugs, weapons and things about that, and thats how he grew up, and listen to the flow! its supa good! Crank dat is also good (the first three times you hear it then you realise its BS)
Yeah sure like Kanye is good and dont make tracks about this things, ffs ever heard Good Life? There he "raps" or whatever you call it, about money and girls. There is many wannabe's out there like Soulja Boy but some of them really become something.

    Re: Rap

Kanye's Good life is all about his life i mean come on look at the chorus:

Now I - I go for mine, I got to shine
(Now throw your hands up in the sky)
Now I - I go for mine, I got to shine
(Now throw your hands up in the sky)
I'ma get on this TV mama, I'ma

50 cent is not raping about his life, I mean look at Candy Shop, your telling me that hjappened to him? Crank dat was always crap , we just never realized it. And iron maiden I mean that more people are into rap nowadays than they are into rock.
Ofc rap generated from rock but more people will now prefer rap over rock.
    I'ma put shit down
(Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh)
    I'm good

Right so. Where I left off. Ah yes. Rap became popular in the 1960s when rock was sweeping the nation...coincidence? I think not. Rap put the harmonic folk lyrics about hard life in the south to a simple rock beat usually with a heavy bass and snare drum sound.

As for the statement that more people prefer rap than rock. I believe your spouting bullshit out of your ass. Your statement might be true for Americans...hell even I don't believe that. But, it sure as hell isn't true for the entire world. I bet you could take the most famous rap artist's record sales and put them up against the most popular rock bands of all time and they wouldn't even compare. Try putting up Kanye West's record sales against the Beatles, or 50 Cent up against Led Zeppelin. Or even Chamillionare against Aerosmith. I guarentee that all 3 of those rap artists combined record sales don't even come close to any 1 of those bands individual record sales.
