    Re: Rap

The real rap is never heard on radio, or by a lot of people, and therefore forgotten. Then people like 50 Cent come along and ruin rap and what it should actually sound like. I agree with Iron Maiden that rock will always be more popular but with the perfect beat and good lyrics rap can be just as good as rock.

and NONONONO!!! Rap did not evolve from rock! this is from wikipedia:
Rapping hip hop music can be traced back in many ways to its African roots. Centuries before the United States existed, the griots of West Africa were delivering stories rhythmically, over drums and sparse instrumentation. Because of the time that has passed since the griots of old, the connections between rap and the African griots are widely established, but not clear-cut. However, such connections have been acknowledged by rappers, modern day "griots", spoken word artists, mainstream news sources, and academics.

    Re: Rap

Anyone who says "rap isn't music it requires no talent rawr rawr rawr" is a close minded fool. I'm not going to point you toward "Nas" or any of that rubbish, but there are some extremely talented rap artists out there. Soweto Kinch, for example, is an Oxford graduate in history, and a virtuoso jazz saxophonist - but he is also a rapper, with some very well written and meaningful songs that are great social commentaries. I recommend you all check him out.

    MySpace.com - Soweto Kinch - - Other / Jazz / Hip Hop - www.myspace.com/sowetokinch

As for rap being more popular than rock... No. Maybe among the younger American generations, but not overall.

    Re: Rap

For me, Rap isn't music at all, it's just about making rhymes with the words (im not saying that it's junk, it just that it isn't real music for me). And for those who says that Rap can be as good as rock, i find it hard to believe because rock has way more deep meaning than just a lyric. I bet that most of the American teens would listen to pink floyd and say "WTF is this shit, its boring as hell!!" And you know why? Because they have a big lack of culture.

Oh btw rap can be well mixed with other genres, just look at limp bizkit and some other Nu metal bands out there, rap can be a good complement to some of the music genres but rap itself isnt music. Thats my opinion.

<3 you. btw that is the first time I've ever used the <3 thing...feel happy.

As I've said many a time I cannot just sit and listen to rap or I'll go crazy... But I will say a party just isn't the same without it. Even though that the rap they play at parties isn't even true rap, it's that pop rap shit.

I know most people hated the Jay-Z/Linkin Park thing, but I really liked it. Call me a retarded with Downs syndrome, but I thought it was good. :p

    Re: Rap

There is actually some good rap songs that actually mean something.. I mean if you really listen to the lyrics it makes sense.

P.diddy - ill be missing you ,etc.
Rascalz - On top of the world
Point Blank - Born and raised in the ghetto

But yeah I mostly listen to R&B and stuff.

I dont know how to embed but here are some songs as listed:

    YouTube - P. Diddy, Faith Evans, 112 - I'll Be Missing You

YouTube - Rascalz Feat. Barrington Levy & K-Os - Top Of The World

YouTube - Point Blank - Born and Raised in the Ghetto (Final Cut)

P.S. - I guess I dont really enjoy Rock n' stuff that much possibly because I wasent raised on it, everyone has different perspectives, and reasons ;)

I,Yes I use to be a liker of rap but that was long long time ago for some odd reason i dont actually think rap is music anymore,It's as if it has turned into a Genre called retarded poetry.I mean with Soulja boy "Super man that hoe"I mean wtf is all that about It's just turned into a I dont know what you called it A war?I mean all they sing about is mostly "Gang war's." - Eminem (Toy soldier's) Atleast there's better music still out there like metal.sad that all the stuff like johnny cash song's went i actually quite liked them i mean i like most music because i am a general music fan. Back to the topic now "Candy Shop" By 50 cent."i let you lick my lollypop"Why doesn't he just say I'll let you lick my penis because That's what he's suppose to mean isn't it?
