Rock.... Rap..... These styles of music died in 90's with Kurt Cobain and 2pac. What quality music do we have today? Well maybe The Outkast or Beyonce

Kurt Cobain? When did he ever play as an icon in rock? His wife did most of the writing, and he himself can't even sing or play the guitar well. All he ever did was play Major 5th chords (power chords). He might have sounded good in his albums, but try picking up a bootleg Nirvana concert. He's the slopiest singer/guitarist you will EVER hear.

..I have nothing to argue about for Rap, I know nothing of that genre..:smilie3:

nirvana is supposed to be crappy, its called grunge.

so what if he played power chords, thats all what punk bands play and most of 80s metal focused around root-5th and power chords.

grunge is meant to be dirty, kinda rugged music that has raspy vocals and trashy guitar.

    thats the style nirvana is.

so what if you don't like, i dont like grunge either, especially that nickelback crap.....

and yes def leppard kicks major ass!!!!

I think I might have found a good band...Avenged Sevenfold... Their old music is more toword hard rock...but at the same time they have some of the best harmony, melody, and best put together songs I've ever heard. I'm a music major in college right now and i did a paper on them. My teacher is a classical music kind of guy who hates our generation of music, but after I made him listen to some of their songs he finally agreed with me on how much emotion they put into their work. Maybe its just me buy i can either listen to them when I'm pissed off... Or put them on when i try and go to sleep... It just depends on what I'm listening to.

you cant judge todays music without listening to a hell of alot of it, 80+ albums, punk/rock/metal/alternative, is it just me or is alter/punk getting extremely repetative now?

biggest relief band ive had is "as cities burn" so fresh and orginal.

I would say there is very little rock now, Id say Foo Fighters are prob closest to rock. I agree with you that there is some total trash now, but there are still awesome bands coming out. Funeral for a Friend, Finch (not really rock, more emo), Hooberstank. There are others too.

ehh its all what you like, i like metal cause it gets me pumped up for sports and plus i just like how much hate and agression is put into it.

i like to chill with smooth jazz and power jazz (weather report, tower of power)

i like to listen to country when in a freaky kind of mood

and funk just to sit back and play my bass.

when these emo bands come out the only time i can't find out why people listen to it.

its true girly voice, talking about hwo the got dumped, beaten or how many beers they drank, parents yelled at them or how they flunked out of school and don't care.

maybe people like it but I DON'T

    bands i hate the most:

    my chemical romance
    blink 182
    funeral for a friend
    sum 41

basic stuff like that, its not really emotion or anything put into that stuff.

its just repetative words about how they hate their life and crap.

but the worst part about the emo crowd, the hairdos

    man those things are freaky

but i will say one thing, hardcore kicks ass!!!

    tbh, I'm totally into hardcore.

Which has it's origin in the first " punk ", which was called punk-rock back in those days, which is considered old-school hardcore now.

Metalcore is fine with me too, but heck, it freaks me out cuz most of them guys suck ass trying to master their guitar or drums (specially the drums, since I play m).

But, as I've seen before over here, people say: It's a feeling/expression whatever you like.

So yeah, it can be entagenized like real bad, but if you like it, what's keeping you from listening it?

I listen Jazz and Blues, from drums inspiration, I'm about to play in a big-band, and yeah, I got a Hardcore band too.

The only thing I can't <-(edit) stand atm is:

Actual Hip-Hop, which they call Rap by times, which is actually (Britney Spears) R&B like: Fawk me haaaawwrddd (bangbang) aaaawwww.... (bangbang)

    Screw that.

    u bon jovi bummer!

if we all liked the same stuff the world would be a boring place. I prefer the more modern stuff like coldplay, foo fighters, razorlight.

    its not shit to me.

I like the older rock in comparison with the newer stuff coming out. I don't know too much about the genre, as I'm mostly into RnB, but Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, AC/DC and Guns 'N' Roses are all great.
