1. they created the organisation which is a non profit one. does not mean they do not get money from their music.
2. MANY bands encourage fans to download their music (eg. linkin park and korn)

every bad gets money from their music and CD prices are established by the editor, not the band.
You never now if a band like this is about money, although I seriously doubt it.
At the moment: SOAD
A few years back: Green day by far
They both suck because their both soo commercial
both are kinda hot but i like green day better
ehh greenday was great before they went mainstream but SOAD will always find a new way to redeem themselves so SOAD for me
They are both great, but for sure WORLD greatest band right now is Green Day. And for sure Green Day is 1212032423 Times better then Soad at live performance(bullet in a bible can prove it ;) ). To me, GD popularity is making people hate them, thats why people called them a "pop" group just beacuase they made one hell of a great successful album. I mean seriously, songs like "Holiday" by green day on their American idiot album is pop? lol. SOAD and GD are both great bands and shouldnt be disrespected because they are saving music today, yes stuff back then like Judas Priest,The Clash, Sex Pistols,Iron Maiden and all that other old stuff was better but its dead now. whats great about these bands are they are not like those faggot screamo and emo bands trying to be cool like Hawthorne Heights and My Chemical Romance and all those other gay crap.
SOAD = ownage
GreenDay = Dieing and in hell
well, you can pretty much tell wether the band became commercial by they're music. when you see that a once-good band started making crappy music, it mostly meens that they became commercial. take Metallica for example -they were once THE METAL GODS!!! but take a look at they're new music - it's pure crap, not to mention it's not even metal anymore, just some kind of crap with the Metallica logo on it so the fans will buy it. and tell me now, haven't they become commercial? of course they did.
pretty same with SOAD - they just started to make some crappy music talking about the global problems, etc, etc. just an attempt to make it something that almost anyone will be able to connect with - so that more people will buy it (DUH!).
some of metallica's new songs are good (e.g. The Unnamed Felling) but yes, I agree that they are commercial.
SOAD allways made songs about global problems (e.g. ATWA, Sugar, P.L.U.C.K. (last 2 on their first album)) so that's not a good enough of an argument. I still listen to them and I like their new songs as much as their old ones.
yeah, metallica got some nice songs from they're new stuff. well, only two songs that i liked, actually XD.
now SOAD, i don't know, maybe they're commercial, maybe not, i'm not sure what do i think of this already. thing is, that SOAD's new stuff sound kinda... dunno... it's not SOAD anymore, sort of...
