O.K, since I'm a huge fan of Pink Floyd and it being one of the biggest bands in the history I suppose it deserves it's own thread.

This thread is to discuss ANYTHING related to Pink Floyd... Songs, albums, facts, rumours - anything.

I'll start..

1.The name is taken from two Blues musicians, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. Pink Floyd started at 1964 as a Blues band and later moved on to the Rock that we love.

2.The Floyd member are:Roger Waters(vocal, lyrics, bass) David Gilmoure(vocal, guitar), Nick Mason(drums) and Richard Wright(keyboards).(this isn't the original set, before Gilmoure was Syd Barret which was a HUGE influence to the band and it's success, he had to drop the band due to his mental health, he got crazy.)

3. The Wall is one of the best selling albums ever created.

4. Roger left the band at 1985 and actually sued David for the name's right.. he lost.

Pink Floyd is timeless. not many bands are. The Floyd influence is huge and still doing it's own in the new generations.

I tried to explain this to someone earlier. They said a person can't be a god on an instrument, and i had to explain why he is. Also, i also had to explain that just because a guitarist can play fast and heavy, doesn't make them a god, just makes them impressive. The most godly thing a guitarist can do is not to overplay the part they are writing, for example, the comfortably numb solo didnt need 600 notes played at 200bpm, you can hear the solo in your head before its played, which makes it godly.

Edit - Pink Floyd were one of the few bands to make use of a synth.

My favorite songs include:
"Another Brick In The Wall", "Wish You Were Here", "Comofrtably Numb", "Dark Side Of The Moon", and many more.
