These are in my opinion the Top 5 albums of 2010 across most genres of music.
1. Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

Say what you want about Kanye West about how he lives his life and his unparalleled douchebaggery, but when he wasn't getting fucked up at awards shows or cussing out Matt Lauer, he was making one of the most profound Hip-Hop/Rap albums of the decade. On top of the Bon Iver, Elton John, and King Crimson samples he uses, he's also building on top of that with his hilarious rhymes. (Have you ever had sex with a pharaoh?/I put the pussy in a sarcophagus!) Also, never has he been so insightful about his personal relationship faults. He seems to put all other traditional hip-hop aside from his prog-song "Power" to the grandiose song "Runaway".Is the album dark? Sure. Twisted? Of course. But above all, it's Beautiful.
2. The Black Keys - Brothers

Nothing better can be said about this rock/blues duo that hasn't been said already. And they proved all the hype again with another amazing album. "Howlin For You" puts a gritty blues sound over a glam beat that just makes you want to get up and dance to it. Even if you're a dude. Also, the cover of "Never Give You Up" shows off Dan Auerbach's falsetto range as that of a soulman. This album is true rock minimalism taken to the max.
3. The Dead Weather - Sea of Cowards

Jack White and Allison Mosshart's brain child has taken a wild new turn as White now takes a back seat as a drummer/singer, but leads by example with his Bonham inspiring force that gives the zealous guitars a grimy blues/rock sound that I've come to love over the years. Best excessive rock album of the year!
4. Arcade Fire - The Suburbs

Arcade Fire don't do anything small — so leave it to the Montreal collective to make an album of vast, orchestral rock that locates the battle for the human soul amid big houses and manicured lawns. The Suburbs is the band's most adventurous album yet. Win Butler and his wife, Régine Chassagne, sing about suburban boredom, fear of change and wanting to have a kid of their own — always scaling their intimate confessions to arena-rock levels and finding beauty wherever they look.
5. Eminem - Recovery

Eminem is back on top with Recovery because well, he tells you himself rapping "Let's be honest, that last Relapse CD was ehhh". His new album is one of him being older and much wiser. He used to be a drug-addict dad and now with the song "Not Afraid" he pledges to remain sober, and I think he's serious this time.
