[TUT] Removing Vocals From A Song

OBS! IF ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAVE BEEN POSTED BEFORE THEN SORRY, TOO LAZY TO SEARCH

Hey, i'm going to show you how to remove the vocals from a song. If you don't know what vocals is, i can tell you it's the same thing as voice. For this you will need Audacity:

Audacity Download Link: SourceForge.net: Downloading ...
    LAME Encoder DLL: http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/libmp3lame-win-3.97.zip
(needed to export as mp3, probably missing)

    How to:

    1. Download and Install Audacity
    2. Download the DLL file (second link)
    3. Place the DLL file you downloaded in the Audacity folder
    (mostly like C:\Program\Audacity or C:\Program Files\Audacity)
    4. Open up Audacity
    5. File > Open
    6. Open the song which is going to be edited, wait for it to load
    7. When loaded, choose the arrow pointing down in the channel, and "Split Stereo-track" or something like that.
    8. Highlight the second channel you got now, and go to Effects > Invert
    9. Wait for it to load
    10. Press the arrow which is pointing down again, on one of them, and choose mono
    11. Choose mono on the other one too

Voila! You have removed the vocals of your song. Note that it won't work to any song. Rap is probably the best. Now if you want to save it go File > Export as mp3, save, and enjoy!

Sorry if anything is wrong, atleast this works for me. Bye, weaxer.

This doesnt remove the vocals, it simply cancels out the centre pan which is where the vocals are. So be prepared for the bass drum, bass and any guitar solos to also be cancelled out, as thats where they go too

If audacity said jumping off a cliff made you the best guitarist in the world would you do it? It attenuates vocals, yes, but they'll still be there in a slight amount and you're just removing the centre pan

It depends on who did the recording, and how the like the sound. It all depends on what layer they decided to put the vocals. I'd say this would work for 70% of all songs. But as nathan said it isn't removing vocals, just the channels. So there will be more missing then just vocals.
