Fender & Gibson, two nice guitars
I have a Gibson 98' Flying V Reissue. It's pretty nice, but I don't like the color. And the neck is much too thick. I think I'm going to trade it in for an Ibanez or somthin.
i don't really like fender lol
sound-wise it's ok but the looks is just not my taste haha
i dont care how it sounds if it plays well. if it sounds bad i'll just change the pickups.
thats how i usually feel about guitars.
the thing about gibsons is well they are blues guitars, meant to be played with passion, their neck is thick have a nice sound when played through a tube amp and really can scream. they arent really metal guitars, except zakk wylde uses one lol... the neck is just to thick to shred really good.
i like my ibanez it has the wizard II neck and boy is it nice, nice smooth skinny and flat, later on though im swapping my pickups for a dimarzio evolution neck and evo 2 bridge.
Hells yeah. Ibanez owns all.Originally Posted by b1zn4tch
There shouldn't be more than 2 choices, Gibson and Fender. the "Superstrats" like Ibanez, Schecter, etc have IMO Similar tone to gibson and/or fender.
I'm a les paul guy myself, but for the soundwise, nothing could surpass a Strat if used right. Just listen to Hendrix to see what I mean.:batman:
in that case it's the player and not the guitar :SOriginally Posted by davis
gibson les paul 1950s goldtop & marshall mode four full stack....
need i say any more
I dont know squat about guitars, and Im getting one in 2 months... I nead something cheap for a beginner but one that makes a sound I like... Whats the difference between sounds? :P
Is there like a guide with audio samples or something?
Its just that I want to buy a guitar that I believe makes a specific sound, and Im most likely wrong... I dont want to buy the guitar and be dissapointed after playing it..
EDIT:
Can THIS GUITAR make THIS SOUND and THIS SOUND?
Or just one? or none? :S

I use an Epiphone Les Paul with EMG-81+EMG-85 pickups. along with that i have some J.D. Addario Auto-Trim Tuning Heads which are frekin sweet :). I also have a Crate Halfstack and a Laney 120 Watt amplifier along with a GNX2 effects Pedal. My favorite sound/effect for my guitar is the Big Duck one because it has extreme sensitivity for those picktapping solo's(Metallica - One) :punk:
