Why Are Buskers Looked Down At?
is the jist of the quesiton...
I mean, I see people playing their guitars, sometimes there are drumlines, though mainly guitars, and peple look down at them as if they're beggars on the street, begging for money.
Hadn't it occured to people that they're doing this because they want to get out, show people their music, simply gather confidence performing infront of people, maybe just to get out there and do something rather than stay in and practice when it's a nice day?
I mean, whenever I'm out and see a busker, I'm always tempted to give them money if I have any on me, even if it's not much, I like showing my appreciation, even if I can't spare change, I'll simply just watch them for a bit, and when they're finished I'll tell them how much I liked theior music, especially if it was an original, and even ask them some questions about the gear, their styles, preffered genres (without getting too personal), etc.
I remember on several occassions when I was younger and I was walking with my mum/dad, I'd hear them comment on how they should get a 'real job', and basically degrade them (although, funnily enough it was never to their face).
Anyway, It's summer time, and I've always though about busking, not for money, but simply to just to get out there and hopefulyl get some "wow he's pretty good" expressions on people's face, but the idea of people thinking I'm a piece of shit after their money puts me off, mainly because I hate people like that.
Jist of this wall of text? People have talents, and especially if they're musical talents, what's the harm in performing for people for free?
Eh I don't know, just wanted to see if anyone shared the same views...

Re: Why Are Buskers Looked Down At?
It all depends on how talented they are, and how they dress. In most cities you have to have a permit in order to perform on the street. In Kansas City there was a guy performing right in front of the place we were eating at. It was a nice place, and the guy performing was amazing. He was dressed nice and he was getting a LOT of money from people walking by.

Re: Why Are Buskers Looked Down At?
Is buskers same as panhandling? cause we do a lot of panhandling at my local mall, we usually get kicked out by the security guard LOL, they even know our names now! :) but we usually get around 10 bucks and we buy two five buck pizza! yeah we're lame.
