most of the cases you will not get your money back from the server the server of MU you will not make profit


i have bought now a hardware firewall i know for shure that i will be attack in 7 days because then i will launch , i will test the idea

Hardware firewalls aren't made for mitigation, and once you get hit with a bigger attack your host will either null route you, or take you off the firewall.

cheap host wont help you but expensive host can, what em trying to say is expensive host can provide you some protections even you dont have a knowledge for protecting your server, and i suggest go to a host that allready experience some ddos etc... good luck

McAfee firewall is a good software solution for any O.S.

like i've already noted in this topic just get a damn cisco firewall AND GET A NETWORKS SPECIALIST to set it up for you unless you know yorself exactly what to do

basically what you need to do is limit simultaneous-connections-per-ip rate, set all connections from said ip to time out if overpassed and set-up a cooldowntime, set a limit to connections per minute per ip and coldowntime if overpassed, keep a close eye on open ports and find out most popular proxyservices & block them

with these you are already very well protected, actually far better than most servers could even hope to be.

i use kiwi guard 2011 plus and i get everyday about 80 attacks and nothing happens :P
