[HELP] General questions about Rates & Stats

Hello. I am trying to fully understand the stats system of the game. So here are some questions regarding the character's rates:

1) In the following picture we have the Strength of a Soul Master. It says that the Damage is 160-227. From what i understand this is the actual damage the character can do by using his staff in melee combat (as a melee weapon with direct attack). But what does the Rate do? I noticed that the Rate goes up by 1-2 points for every Agility point.

2) Almost same thing in this picture. The Defense is 9004 (which as i understand means that if the character for example gets a 20,000 attack damage by another character, only 11,000 will be removed from his Health Points). But again, what the Rate means?

If i am wrong in anything i mentioned earlier, please correct me.

have u tried using the calculator to add +/- and understand how the rates in-decrease ?

- stat specialization, skill damage modified
Stat Specialization

Every class receives the bonus points based on specialized stat.
The higher specialized stat a character has, the more bonus stat will be granted.
A character can have at least 1 or more specialized stats depending on its class.
The amount of bonus stat is calculated based on specialized stat point.

- (Bonus stat generated by equipping items like weapon, armor, wing, or master skill,
etc is not applied to specialization calculation.)

- If you mouse over the specialized stat, you can check out which attributes and
how much have been increased.
- You can check out specialized stat info each class has via character information window.
