    The Function of Gate.bmd

Sup everyone? Today I am going to release a guide to you all explaining what a gate.bmd does. Many people here including server owners have been wondering for a very long time what the gate.bmd in the client does. Most people would toss it aside like it was a piece of trash. Well your WRONG!

    Q: Is a gate.bmd important?
A: Only if you want your gates to function right in game.

    Q: What does a gate.bmd do?
A: It allows you to warp to a certain map when you step into a certain spot on the map (configured in gate.txt server side).

Q: Where can you find the gate.bmd?
    A: Right inside your client.

Open up your gate.txt in your server for a second. Most of you guys might get something like this:

    1 1 0 121 232 123 233 2 0 20 //Lorencia -> Dungeon
    2 2 1 47 206 47 206 0 1 20 //Dungeon

This is the gate that warps you from Lorencia to Dungeon. If you know how to configure a gate.txt then you will have no problem with this guide, otherwise I recommend you learn what a gate.txt does. Note that the coords that warp you to Dungeon from Lorencia is 121 232 and 123 233. This means as soon as you step onto this coord you will be automaticly warped to Dungeon coords 47 206. This is where the gate.bmd comes in. Let say you configured your gate.txt to match my 1st two gates as shown above. Go to your client and delete the 1st two gates in your gate.bmd. Now go in game and try and enter Dungeon using the following Lorencia coords. Note that it will not work. Why? Because the coords for the gates arn't configured into the client. Go back to the gate.bmd and make it match the 1st two gates and go in game and try again. You will notice that it is working this time. The map warp gates on the other hand like /move *map* only needs server side gate.txt to be configured. But for any other warps your going to have to configure it in both gate.txt and gate.bmd.

Q: So what does gate.bmd do?
A: It warps you to another area when your step into a certain spot which is configured on both the server and client side.

I really recommend you know how to configure gate.txt before you try this out or you will not know what your doing at all. If you don't understand this guide just post here and I will help you out the best I can. I am not such a good explainer.

Genius I never figured this out and it will sure come in handy.

And as you had said - THIS technique is to warp/teleport from map to map WITHOUT using the MoveReq,in otherwords without using:
    1. /move 'map name'
    2. Press M - brings up Map Move window/table.

    Excellent guide and thanks again.

    So anyways awesome.
Oh..and check for devias I think webzen has some bug.Cross the first bridge to the north of devias, turn left, keep walking or flying or whatever, and you will find some platforms covered in ice.Walk around there and you might be warped back to lorencia. If that happens, just find the coords in devias where you get teleported, and just remove it from both gate.txt and gate.bmd.

I think he wants to add it in his client, he needs to modify Gate.txt and Gate.bmd to do this properly. If it is only one-sided, he'll end up somewhere else. Nice guide, but isn't it obvious already? Client side protocol > must match server side. It's all common sense.

Anyway, I'm sure someone will appreciate it.
