I just get a page with username box password box and a rare login thingy and the rest is text and background white :

i get that too.

Go to EVERY PHP FILE, and change the first line "<?" with "<?PHP"
That would fix it. However HE IS missing "define_usertype.php".

as for ODBC connections very simple. Replace mssql_connect with ODBC_connect. EG.
