[HELP] edited skin as a new item

Ive done new skins but I can only replace the original dds skins...

what I want to do is create a new item which will have my edited skin.

If you open up an elu file (example) -- "woman-parts_santa.elu" using notepad and it has entry "w_santa_pants.tga". It has that entry which states which dds skin file it will use. changing it to my desired skin and save it using wordpad will cause error.

on DaemonsRing Gunz, there're items using the same elu but different skins which was that zeus headgear.

Yeah, a lot tutorials are posted already, and use hex editor to hex edit the mesh names and stuffs.
