Embedding Exes

90% of the hackers are small kids that use someone else program and all they know is to click launcher exe, inject and start.
My launcher will be done soon, and using this one thos kids won't be able to use all the stupid kind of hacks.

Yes you can.
On .NET you have to pass a StartInfo to Process.Start and set the WorkingDirectory to PT folder.

still, I could open any process explorer, find the executing process path and then make a copy. a file watcher wont solve the problem. as with the temp files, it can be bypassed. when you are watching those porn movies from bangbros ie (ITS NOT MY EXPERIENCE, MY FRIEND TOLD ME :zippy: ), the movie is saved in your temp folder. but you cant open it, rename it anything. its "locked". but there's an exe that can copy the folder even though its locked. see, that wont solve the problem.

You can use "WhoLockMe" to remove locks on files. I do that a lot with wrapped setups. The ones which come as a single executable but are actually lots of files and a setup executable or MSI wrapped in something like a self-extracting Zip or RAR... but just different enough that even Universal Extractor can't dig them out.

It's handy if you want to change a file before installation... IT Techs have to do that to make an unattended network roll-out or background install or such. Maybe put a license key in so we don't have to email everyone in the organisation what the key is before they can install, or stop the manager installing Ossif on his secretaries PC without the mass-mailer coz he never uses it and then freaks a said secretary when they can't mass-mail his clients. :(:

If the wonkers had built the package right in the first place they'd have allowed us to pass parameters to the single exe that it would pass on, or let us roll the license key unattended before hand and have the wrapped setup run unattended if that's found but they often don't. :(:

Also means I don't have to admit to knowing WTF Bang Bros. is. :thumbup:

Anyway... Usually find injectors will locate the executable in memory, regardless of where it is run from. (fe. CE or CheatHappens cheats don't care) Debugger, and PE dumper will also find the executable from the task list.

Debatable. IMHO it's probably worse than nothing.

As I say, so long as you build your launcher as an x86 binary, you can import it into game.exe.

Yes a guide. ^_^ It's a *very* simple change, but we've lost a lot of the "beginner" class guides, so I'll try not to feel ashamed of posting it. :wink: I can probably pad it out with more examples and explanations... but since I can out waffle most people anyway, I'll see if anyone asks for more info first. :blink:

IMHO MMO game should focus on anti cheats.

I think it is a valuable means of reducing cheats... though it's clearly targeted more at authenticating assets.

It's the sort of thing that reduces players who don't know how to hack using cheats hacked by someone else, rather than stopping cheaters from making cheats for your client / server.

Yes, but do you remember when we where talking about making range same as it is on bows and javelins? It generate error when it's changed. Static range is better because you can let players to do crazy big ass weapons mods and at same time don't let them cheat.

But I think that editing maps is a bigger problem.
Imagine if you organize "climbing event" and some players will edit map in way you will not see them on air but at same time they will be able to climb faster.

And this is something you would not like to see. I need to check if this function that test if player is on ground actually working lol

Doubt it. You don't DC from falling through holes in the map... at least, not before I've gotten bored and cored to someone. I don't know how many are still there, but I used to go hunting for map holes like other people go climbing.

I jumped off or fell through many maps. If you don't have a core, and aren't Admin authenticated, you can just log out... and you'll log back in at the normal spawn point.

There used to be a cracker right in the opening from GoF to FoS. If you ran through it the way I usually did, you would fall through an invisible seam 1 time out of 6. XD

So... just smooth the bumps out of the map by knocking corners off in Max, and you're a winner, I guess.
