Okay, the first thing we would need to know is... How far have you got?

    Do you have a server?
Do you know which type of server side scripting it uses, or are you still free to choose?
    Do you have a preference?
    Have you checked the RFT?

Basically, there are two ways to set up the links between your web server and your database that have already been shared by generous and knowledgeable persons hereabouts.

    1) You can use ASP (Microsoft Active Server Pages) which is great if you run IIS on the same server as you run PT. ASP is quite easy to read, and MS have a lot of documentation on it that comes with their IIS server packages and Visual Studio development suites. It's also the same basic language(s) as you use in WSH, and based (these days) on the dot Net managed framework.
    2) Because running the web server on the same machine is never as good either in terms of performance or security, and because many Linux web servers are cheaper and (arguably) more secure, many people choose PHP, which works great on an Apache web server, and can be set up to work on IIS as well, so you have some flexibility there. PHP is open source and you can get a lot of help and snippets from their very active and friendly community.

Either way... to follow a guide and set up a web server the way you want, and link it to your database, which ever language and whatever server you choose you better understand the language you are coding in, because you will have to modify the script your self.

It is unlikely anyone here will want to teach you PHP or ASP on this forum, let alone the SQL APIs they are going to have to interface with, as their are many other places dedicated to that.

I'm not saying you can't do this, or don't know already... I'm just saying (because I'm not the expert here either) that you will get better responses if you can evidence that you know what you are talking about before hand.

That said, if you really are starting from scratch, and have time constraints on learning, (the hosting fee is already in the post to you etc.) you may want to consider getting a web designer who does know one of these languages to manage this part for you. It's easily doable, but do you have the time and the patience to learn?

Eww! Frontpage may be okay for corporate Intranet, but on the wild wild web you would get a better design and layout from Dreamweaver or Expression (if you must go MS) or even Kompozer. And a decent CMS will go a long way towards making a Website that is very manageable, though most of those are designed to run on PHP.

Umbraco works on ASP, if you have PHP I would go with Mambo but there are a million and one very good CMS' out there.

He hasn't said that, and we may have scared him off already. lol. Frontpage is no beginner tool IMHO, where I would think Mambo can be set up and managed by anyone who can run a PT server in less than a day.

If you are still shopping for a web host, find one that provides a good CMS. That will take a lot of the pain out of it, provided you can still upload raw pages like the examples here.
