yes, you have to copy the "char" and "field" folder from game folder to server files

    few things.
you dont MUST change the ip u can leave the client without an ip but if you do wanna change open it with game.exe scroll down and you will see its under the "COMIC SAN MS" if you dont have any ip there you can live it or add your ip.
I do like to do things for myself i have been trying this for 2 days straight becuase i didn't want to ask for help
you can always ask for help that why we here =]
btw dont forget change the ips in the reg file in game folder and the ldata

    Re: No npcs or monsters

Did I forget the field and char folders when I made my guide Imri? That would be silly of me, and explain why I had not NPCs or mobs either.

    ... Doh!

Doing that shouldn't stop a connection from working though.

Check my IPs and Ports guide for reference as to, what is WAN / LAN IP, what port am I using etc.

Well... much the same. That guide will tell you if a signal is getting through, and if so, what IP and what port it's trying to connect on.

There are a lot of places that the IP the server expects signals on are set. It's sadly not just a matter of putting it in the Servers hotuk.ini, or being able to use any IP that resolves to that machine.

If you see my post on the PPT setup with any server files Tutorial, where you asked the same (almost) question, I mention router allowed ports and firewalls... the connection guide goes into more detail.

    Re: No npcs or monsters

Hey, thanks alot for taking the time to help me! and i have no firewall or anti viruses on this computer so that wont block anything (I run a dedicated server on this machine for a game called Unreal Tournament allthough it work alot differently its alot more simple but they still work the same way in that yuo have to forward the listening port) when i use TCPview and look at my Server4096 it shows Acer:0 under the remotehost tag (Acer being my computername) shouldn't this show my i.p address? and also i cannot tell if my game.exe is trying to connect to the right i.p as i cannot window the screen wile in game :( if i uplaod my game.exe can you please see if theres an embedded i.p and tell me how to locate/change it? plz and thanks for the fast response

    edit:
I have read over all your tutorials over n over n over trying to see if i have missed somthing out the only thing i can think of is if its the game.exe thats the only thing i havnt touched as i dont know how to use/read HEX :-) (btw love the tutorials) perhaps if you have a spare half hour we could discuss over face book/instant messenger and you could help me out? (although i dont wish to intrude on yours or anyones personal space/time plan)

    Re: No npcs or monsters

Sounds like robot500 followed the guides quite well... but background understanding always aids understanding. Sadly each router or switch has their own way of dealing with ports, and every software revision makes a difference too. Some ISPs limit port usage as well... AOL used to be a famous one. They claimed that this was a "beneficial feature" of their service, as it effectively provided a censored version of the internet that was "safe" for family use. It stopped kids using Peer2Peer networks or chat programs that weren't AIM so that parents could set the parental controls on their AOL account and dictate who you spoke to an what you did.

In the IRC support channels, we called it AOhelL, as most adults couldn't figure out how to turn off these controls, so they couldn't access err... "pay sites" or IRC etc. if they wanted to. ^_^ Sometimes they couldn't even access their bank on-line.

It's almost impossible to "solve" the situation once it leaves your PC... you need a network engineer within your LAN, and just like the Windows messages that tell you to "Contact you System Administrator", in most home situations, that sadly means that you have to step up to the plate and assume that role.

If your lawn sprouted a sign that said "Grass overload, please contact your groundsman!" I think most of us would grab the lawnmower... but mowing a lawn is something you have to learn how to do. Network management is just another one of those things.

Most home maintainence articles don't expect you to be running a server, especially a game server any more than a home gardening course would expect you to be managing a 9 hole golf course at home. But there are lots of resources for MSC and CISCO courses... and you don't have to take the course to learn a lot about the subject on-line.
