As you can see it's a normal murky force file.

That will be difficult with you client in it's current state. I would restore a backup from before you made the edit that caused this.

I had this bug from the second I downloaded the client .. (around 8 month's) so it's defentlly not my edition.

so, you have two choices:

1 - Fix it (find where the string is located in another game and find it in yours comparing codes)
2 - (I'd rather this one) Download another client.

I agree. For the comparison to be of any use, it would have to be you would need to find a client based on the exact same original Compilation from C. (that is, the same version and build) To fix the problem, without a copy before the edit which caused it, will be "real donkey work".

So I agree with lelejau, I'd just get a new client.

I perfer to you to use KPT last client and translate it self. So you will have no problem with any discription. To add custom function, you have to study them from your old client. Anyway good luck with it.

Can you upload game.exe? I would like to see if this is serious problem.
I don't know what modifications you made to your client but it usually taking a while to port everything to new client.

I truly believe we need a newer and easier equivalent of Quantum Fusions clients. Translating the original KPT alone is some serious work... and when you implement it on a Private server users are often still finding strings you missed years after you first released the client.

I personally always found the jPT Clients easier to work with, even though you have to look for strings in EUC-KR and strings in SHIFT-JIS code-pages then. For some reason the Japanese build system seems to make cleaner binaries. But the best features always appear in KPT first. ^_^

I'm afraid I still come back to QF1873, or the Spcute client, both of which have some serious bugs, but are among the most reliable bases for a custom PT client.

Translation is one of the easiest fixes for PT development after removing XTrap requirement. It's far easier than changing the level table, modifying items or adding or changing fields etc... it's simply more laborious to find all the locations of text that might possibly be used during game play.

I highly recommend you use a Korean, Japanese or Chinese test client, and modify it (including the language) your self. Otherwise I would recommend you don't try messing with the client; if that is too hard for you. (If it's just too much work, that I understand.)

The bPT (BloodPT, not PTBr = PT Brazil) client is supposed to be a pretty bug free translated client too, but I have little experience with this.

Thank you Vormav. I wasn't going to recommend it yet, because it's not complete. But the idea of that mini-project is that you should be able to translate a client (ultimately any client) pretty quick once you've implemented the hooks in it. Rather than spending hours implementing thousands of small, simple pointer updates.

The idea of the "Butchered" project that I'm testing the "PT International" libraries on, is to have a PT client that can replace QF1873 as an easily configurable client for private server use. Taking the best features of clients like QF1873, (no XTrap, Translated, simple ways to change the items Etc.) implementing them with the new techniques we've found (Using DLLs and loading data from external files rather than building it into the executable) and adding features which allow private server developers to customise their client to present the features they want to make available to users. (Window Mode, custom resolutions, smaller install, faster loading, hardware cursor etc.) But both are still under heavy development.
