Private Server Setup

I know we all hate these posts, but i'm actually pretty upset and frustrated.

I've spent almost a week trying to put this private server up. Ive gone over every guide i could find and read all the troubleshooting posts in this forum and still cant figure out whats wrong.

I'll list everything i think you'll need to help me out, and let me know if there's anything else i can provide you with.

-i'm on a router, and did open up ports
-i changed all the IP information in reg, ldata, and hotuk
-added a user name properly in the the SQL database ["caesius" added to the C.database and even allusers]

And so you know, i'm using kPT client.

I have SQL open

I open up 4096.exe and get this message:

indicating that the server is connecting properly, right?
the only problem i see, is that in the title bar it says "Hotuk Gameserver [ PT_JAPANES..." but, as i said, i'm running kPT. could this be a problem? also, is it normal for 4096.exe to take up so much resources? my memory usage jumps up to unbelieveable amounts whenever i run it.

hey mula you ip is 192.168.1.5?

with ip 192.168.1.5 your server will only work on LAN
WhatIsMyIP.com - 208.116.34.18 try the ip u get there and ur server might work external also
even too i dont know since i never tryed it :P

if u wanna play solo on ur server u shud use ip 127.0.0.1

192.168.1.5 is my computer's IP, i thought? i looked it up in ipconfig in DOS. i thought i had read some where that if im using a router, whatismyip.com wouldnt give me the right address. do you know if this is true?

i want other people to be able to connect to me... i just have to figure out why i cant connect to the client, myself! haha.

im going to try to use the IP whatismyip.com gave me, though, and see what happens.

okay, so edited with the IP whatismyip.com gave me and i got the same exact error.

does anyone know what that error translates to?

i have a feeling this all might be wrong version errors.

did you know how long it took me to get mine up and running? 2 months, only because host problems, and i had to format hdd like 100 times but it took me 2 months, so dont whine about 1 week

make acc and make like: myserver.no-ip.org
