I donated to support the server, but I wouldn't have if I knew they had threatened to ban those who did not. If I knew I had to pay to play, I would play the official servers. The difference between official and private servers is the option to make the game more fun to play. I would consider not having to pay, something that makes the game more fun. I also understand that it takes time and money to run those private servers (the reason I donated). I don't care if people were taking up bandwidth and not paying - that's one of the reasons for private servers. If you can't afford you're server, you should find a cheaper means to provide it. I guess a VIP server for those who are willing to pay isn't a terrible thing (more stable, incentive to improve, etc).

I agree with alot of what leet said. Also, they could release the server emulator if they wanted to. I don't know why they haven't yet. There had to be some similar starting point that other people used to tweak to create their own private servers. If you release that, no one would know where it came from. Whatever though, I'm not the one "facing legal action". I have to say that they did bring it on themselves by not releasing the files in the first place. They could have ran a good server in a sea of servers instead of trying to be one of the few. If they gave people the option to choose from other servers, they would have a player base who was mostly happy with the way things were on their server (which is why the player would have chosen their server in the first place).

Lastly, I don't care if there is another Priston Tale private server or not. If there is, cool. I would like there to be, because it was fun. I'm not going to cry for the emulator to be released. I would much rather have a Lineage I private server though. That game is more fun than any 3D mmorpg I have played yet. This post started off small and turned into sort of a rambling on various topics, but oh well. You didn't have to read it, did you?

I played until the last day when vipt was running, I wasn't on the last hours.
They did considered about, but they actually never took any action against brazilians, it was like a war in the forum, but nothing really happened.

About the server, I think it was planned, put a server online, state that server costs a high monthly fee, get a lot of donations, and say you're being threatened to be sued, shutdown the server, and go away with the money, change your names, and do it again, and again..

You forgot about the server itself, the bandwidth, size of the datacenter (Less room in datacenter means the higher the costs will be for the racket).

For about 1500 euro/month you have your own racket, with a 1GBit connection with unlimited bandwidth. Let's say that each racket can hold 6 19" servers.. the rest is to router and monitor ect..

We still call it Triglow because we've been playing for 2 and a half years and we just refer to the GM's as "Triglow". We usually only say "TriglowPictures" when it's serious. Sorry, just a habit.

They didn't make an announcement because of this:

That one is obvious.

And we weren't hosting a "server", but "servers".
The three 100 MBits we had at the very end had cost a total of about $500 alone.

We had also orded three new ones which totaled $700, and those are the ones we would be using, which totals $700/month. They had 4 GB of RAM, unmetered bandwidth, and 3 GhZ with Hyperthreading.

Then you factor in the domain name and webhosting and there's some more money spent. ;)

Also:
Where are you looking to find $250/month max? That's a sweet deal.
Dual Xeons are $399 stock!
If you take a Dual Xeon box and PIMP IT OUT, it ends up being $4,500/month for one server!

We also had to spend more money covering the EXTREME bandwidth usage by our original server and the 2nd server. The 3rd one for some reason didn't use that much. I won't disclose the amount because it's too depressing. Let's just say we are being charged 50 cents per 1 GB of bandwidth used over our limit. To give you an idea of the cost, both servers went at LEAST 1000 GB over their limit. That should give you an estimate.

Also if you're going to try and call a "bluff" on anyone, at least know the facts first. The guy who posted a few posts up is right... We had more than one server. We actually had a total of 6...

Our final donation balance at the end of paying for web hosting, 6 servers, and bandwidth charges is:
-$155.
And yes I paid out of my pocket to break even...

You and We don't know have any proofs ViPT was scamm, just because the new servers were added later, it doesn't mean they were for free, they still gotta pay the fees, even tho it's down now, and they don't/can't get additional donations. All i basically wanna say is just stfu about ViPT handling their server(s), since noone of us knows exactly knows what they really intened when they start lnuching the server.

EDIT: And there's a slightly diff in screwing gamelpay a "bit" due to hacking, or steal customer off the original game provider when it comes to law ;b

unproven??? bro i had 7x knight in 3 day of playing like mister 8x pike here i had good friend friends who did donate .. 1 in particular over $100 USD .. on day 4 i laod my acc and everything is stripped INCLUDING the quest item no normal users can remove.. So i pmed a admin saying it must be server error or something and the first response was i must pay .. Then they called me liar and said i had no proof. When in reality if they asked thier 2 highest donars .. they would have said yea i just gave those to him..Or check thier server files.. But they didnt . I understand they needed to be paid and im sure they were hearing im planning on paying left and right . But see i had already paid for my friend i paypaled them $30 bucks for him .. This is why i didnt understand they didnt wanna listen ..BUt its not just my experience others had same ask around .

That's a disadvantages you got as a non-donator, admins usually don't bother hacking incidents, unless the victims were donators. That's nothing personal, that's just how it goes on 90% of the freeshards. Of course they could have checked and restored it, however i think that'd be pretty much timewasting, they coulda have spend on more important things, than making a "leech" happy (Don't take the leech too serious, i didnt donate iether.). It might sounds harsh getting an answer like "donate n we'll look into it", but that's the usual life nearly all of the freeshards out there. And well, the server was pretty much fcked up in its last hrs, too bad it ended like this.

1 my point was i DID donate Was just for my friends account not mine but i refrenced that i had given them $30 for my friend and he replied with gimme $12.99 more its what you pay for ept. 2 if i was hacked for a item i see that point.my whole acc was cleared even items u cant take out (quest items)_ so either 1 it was server error or 2 a admin did it. And the basic lack of help points to a admin doing it to make money .. Which bring me back to the word SCAM.

Restoring every item would mean we would have to go ingame and spawn the items until we found the spec'd ones for you... It would take about 45 minutes of work... And we had no evidence of what may have been on your character in the first place, since we don't have logs proving such things.

The announcement also stated you were responsible for your own items, since we obviously have to concern ourselves with server stability rather than the well-being of 975 players individually. At no point did we offer an "All4u" service or any other "Report lost items" forum. After all, there were only four GM's. It's sad to see that you had a bad experience, but I guess with 975 players we can't expect to make everyone happy. That's just how life is. Unfortunately this disappointed player is unnecessarily vocal. ;)

We restore donators items, since I was the one ingame restoring them. And yes we didn't ask them to re-donate. You're being naive if you honestly expected us to cater to your every need. And 'donating for your friend' doesn't constitute as a reason for anything.

It all boils down to this:
1. It was a free server.
2. You weren't a donator.
3. We have no proof of any items you were carrying.
4. You were being rude to begin with. Kindness yields more desirable responses. Try it next time.

I restored a total of 3 items to donators.
Item restoration for donators was also listed in the rules, etc. :)

That makes donating more worthwhile, but do u check the logs before restoring the items for them, incase they are abusing it.

Forget about viPT. Every1 with a functional brain can realise it was a scam, and that they wont release any files.

Lets just wait for some decent ppl to raise up an server, like cams for one, or for some opensource servercode. It's not much, and probably will take time, that if it even comes to happen, but its at least better than begging here for these viPT files.

Also, i remember reading on one of the 1st announcements from viPT that they where the only server not running over an emu. That makes their serverfiles an open door for Yedang to come fuck up every server running over it.
The best choice here is to w8 for an server emu release, just like every other games non-official servers.

Well let me give you this scenario, you made some wonderful invention which allows you to go from the Earth to the Moon in 1 second. So you submit your invention to the patent office, so that invention is all your own and only you could make money on it because it was your idea. Then....someone goes and breaks into the patent office and steals the plans for your invention, but not only does he steal them, he improves them. Now, based on your ideas, a machine that allows you to travel from the Earth to the Moon in .75 seconds exists. Everyone goes and says "omg omg .75 seconds? im gonna use that one!". But whats worse is everyone is flipping you off because....you're taking legal action against the dude who -stole- the plans (theft is against the law in every country of the world).

Everyone is such an "Automatic Rebel" on the net, it kinda pisses me off. Before taking sides and defending that side strongly, please consider the whole situation.

How much time and money has Triglow put into developing PT so that you even play it? Prolly atleast 100x more than the people who stole the files and wrote up their own DB for it.

These people who are facing legal action by this company are charged with many different charges...with many different confusing names(because most times laws are written to be ignorantly accurate). But all these charges can be simplified to one, that is -Theft-. Don't go and say "Well they didnt steal it, they just got it and worked on it", because if you buy a stolen car, you're still going to get charged for stealing it. They knew the files were stolen, they took them anyways.

If i stole your PC tomorrow and put my GFX card in it, would that make it mine?

Answer that question then go on and be "Proud" to be one of the 900 people who learned nothing but to take shortcuts in their lives.

The proper server files aren't leaked yet, so running a private server isn't possible currently and it's a waste of time. Unless you have the server files, which no one does... Yet.

Except Cams/ViPT/Chinese.

If you do put the server back up then I have 2 things to say to you.

1. You have to wipe the servers clean of everything before you make it known to the public, as happy as I was to get a AS Swift Bow moments before the server was shut down ( I didn't even get a chance to use it :'( ) with the GM's final events... I alone got 22 celestos... and there were people that got a lot more then I did, so yeah, gotta wipe it.

2. Post it somewhere that you're back up, preferably on this site, don't expect us to be checking to see if your site is randomly back up and running.

I heard something called torrents were invented a while back, Im not REALLY sure, but I HEARD it was pretty anonymous :O

No matter where the files originate from, ViPT and CamsPT will still be primary targets for Triglows regardless of their participation in the file leaks or not. They will be used as scapegoats, seeing how they're the only people officially verified to have server files apart from the chinese.
You people that go around telling them that they can send them to someone else to distribute, to torrent them out and stuff, you're only limiting their options by publicly suggesting ideas in a forum that can easily be accessed by ePT employees. You're really just building up an argument NOT to release the files.
It also doesn't help that you're going "lolzzz releas da filez u dumbshiez u selfish pplz kthxbai". Respect the admins and their decisions. You have no right to tell them what to do. And you're really not reading inbetween the lines.

Anyone with a brain can understand that brazilian players weren&#180;t donating. And yes, more than 60% of server bandwitch was for BR. So... admins got a problem? YES. And i knew that.

Ask for UtopiA or any other that read the forum. I worked hard to help brazilians donating. I called BRpay ( brazilian donating system) to help me with that, i just needed a international credit card to start getting brazilian donations, maybe one or two days to do that... But then, i stopped ALL i was doing. REASON: People started posting about BR ip-block.

So what you think i should do? Keep asking for our brazilian children to save their money for donating, even if I knew something was wrong?

What i did: I&#180;m sure you read that PM i sent to UtopiA, yes... i wrote that... i needed to know ANYTHING about brazilian ip-block. Sorry, but i can&#180;t lie for all my country. I have feelings.


What happened then: When UtopiA resigned, i sent a PM to Bobbman ( the new admin) and he answered me: YES, BR IP WILL BE BLOCKED .
So, i asked about brazilian donators, and if i could keep moderating there ( lol.. there was no reason to keep moderating). And Bobbman answered me: You will be able to keep moderating, and if you want, we will unblock your friends IP to keep playing.

Sorry, but it was wrong.

If you asked me to stop asking brazilian donations, coz they would get ip banned, nothing would happen.

I made a portuguese guide "how to donate using paypal", I asked players to help donating ( i knew the problem). It doesn't make much sense, considering we were running three 100 MBit servers, purchased 3 new ones, and were covering web hosting and bandwidth charges...

There's not much left to 'scam'.
As I said before, we ended up $155 in DEBT.

Not sure, but I played VitPT with my friend who is a Brazillian and his friends, who are also Brazillians, and their ip's weren't blocked. So I'm pretty sure that if BR ips had been blocked, then one of them would not have been able to play up until server shutdown.
