ya my bad i just think its kinda pointless if he doesnt kno that much about the game and hes tryin to make a server already :/ maybe he shud learn a lil more about it b 4 getting into servers all im gonna say cuz i realize that i was being a complete ass

Re: [RELEASE] My server files
Well your right about one thing atleast, a person who doesn't know much about the real conquer online shouldn't even try to even set up a conquer online server. I mean like what's the point?

If you think like that... then who isn't a leacher? o.O
All i ever did was just look info from coemu stuff, info that i couldn't ever think myself up, and once again what's the point of thinking up or i don't know what else when you can just look it from other source. You're really making me confused with the word "leacher" like this. :P
I mean like what the hell did i leach anyways?

No, coding the NPC dialogs isn't coding. Coding the packets that interprets the NPC dialog is.

Technically it IS coding, but it's easy to do.

Your a walking contradiction, everything you say is a contradiction, ive never known someone quite like it before, it amazes me how quickly you can turn on your previous statements
As for writing NPC dialogs, it comes down to what source your using, some parse txt, others read from databases and some are hard coded into the server itself, Haydz's example is hard coded and this is "Coding", my source's npcs were parsed from txt files, and im debating a database driven system for my new server, havent decided yet

Agreed but id like to look at the types. You got the "just diolog txt" and the "dialog link methods + text". What im trying to say is in every npc you dont need to create a method within the npc or declare a group of varibles and what they each contain to make something happen you only need to write txt ^^ and ye the npcid ect xD. Say("TEXT") case 'NPCID', not really serious stuff compered to indepth coding is it. Yes they use, if's, switch, case's, breaks, else ect. What do most people learn first on a conquer source you see these p servers that aint got nothing new but you notice some of the npcs have changed.
As for young as he been right about anything yet? hes in nearly every topic and he's talking bullshit ;x

that's just limiting to the simple npcs, an example for instance is the market artisan; you need to have knowledge of how item incrementation works (didn't take too long for me to figure out), 'preserving' variables for use in another case session, algorithms to determine meteor or db req depending on level and quality and so on it all depends on what npc exactly your coding and what you want it to do
im not the best programmer, but im top guns at understanding things, im only now moving into programming

Re: [RELEASE] My server files
Ultimation and Korvacs are right. I simply said NPC's are not coding. Yes you will need to hardcode some sort of methods, for example a quest npc, that would need to be hardcoded, or parsed from txt that runs a method which does it. NPCs (monsters that you kill) is definitively not coding.
There is little script-like engines people make, that are written and parsed from txt according to how it was written and loaded in the language its self.
But i was referring to James as he always talks about how he "coded" npcs when im guessing it was just some txt spawns.
Fsockopen is also correct, an npc that needs to calculate player values + some luck (tc artisan for example) would usually a Boolean formula. But even that NPC wouldent be running the thread for updating that. Clicking him would hand it over to UpgradeWindow handler.
If it was a script-engine for example
Npc333
START=ShowUpgradeWindow();
Or something like that, youd be limited to what you can use, and wouldent even understand how the methods work behind it, ur simply telling something to run something that you have to use. The script-engine designer would be the "coder" and the person doing the .txt would be more of a scripter.
Even a script-engine with very C#-like syntax would be very limited to what it can do, it wouldn't be able to use constructors, keywords, library, would not be able to communicate with any of the classes unless it was a very advanced script-engine which i don't see the point of even making because if you need to use things like constructors/keywords and other library then you might as well just code in C# and do it in a class.
Sorry if i didn't explain that well, but most people should understand.

Basically scripting npcs is'nt indepth coding XEnt is saying. Same with what xEnt says with the script engine. It would be limited to what it can script, it would'nt be able to do the methods for you. A basic/default npc is the txt, the id and a couple of if's else's. I doubt anyone wouldnt be able to understand your comment lol.

what ive noticed is seeing i've been exploring 'everything' microsoft provides two intresting namespaces for building engines to compile code, system.reflection and microsoft.*, i haven't really experimented with either yet

i haven't learned what i'd call alot, but like i said i can understand things easily; i use to play to real conquer and i was able to figure out the mathamatics of how things were being done, i probably can't code them though

Could you post me the m-atk calculation formula depending on m-def? :P
I would really be happy. =)
