    Let's set up a server.

I can finally work on these files again, so how about putting up a server?

    - Who would like to host it? I want a decent guy doing this with a good server that doesn't go down in a week.
    - Files need work, translations and what not. Who'd like to help with all that?
    - There will have to be a good website.
    - Later, testers will be needed. This means players who will log on when we tell them to, and will actively try to find mistakes.
    - In the very least I can help getting it started and provide any information or updates whenever I've created something.

Re: Let's set up a server.

I won't be using my desktop computer much today, so I might aswell leave the server on, so if anyone's feeling a great urge to play a bit of WYD feel free to try and connect to my server. Any 6.13 client should do, for example you could download the FateWYD client from the sticky if you don't already have one. If you can't connect for a reason or another please let me know, but don't expect great support because this hosting isn't here to stay, just for the while for fun.

    Default accounts aaaa1 .. aaaa8 with password 1111 work.

Re: Let's set up a server.

hey you can pm me neg because i never get on msn but i have a stable 24/7 server but its server only it will not host a website:
    Spec:
    amd 4800 x2 (2.9 GHz Stable)

Two sata 200 gb hard drives
    300mps brandwidth
    10 -100 upload and download
    weekly maintenance checks

but like i said it can't be used to be host a website at this time but it will host a wyd2 server for sure

    edit: I can host a website to locally on the machine now and we can use this theme from my old website though ill have to do a lot of editing;
Demo: YOOtheme Demo Site - Template Showcase and click on the surface template i bought the template awhile back and was using it for my current website which was going no where so why not use it for this

    That's good to hear, whitemist.

At the moment what most bothers me with these files are the language. Anyone who'd take on the task of translating server language files from portuguese/korean to english? Yes, the files I found were partially translated to portuguese, and that won't do.

well im not sure which one's your using but if you want send me the link or the files your looking at and ill take a look at it. And I'm worried a little to since a lot of the tools are also in portuguese but im sure since we have such a large community we could get it done.

Re: Let's set up a server.

I downloaded the ones from the sticky, virustheking's files IIRC, but defaulted a lot of files to the original korean package because I want to be sure just what changes exist.

Language of the tools doesn't bother me at all, because I tend to make my own tools, anyway. For example the only reason I didn't make my own 4ftool or EDITMOB yet is that I haven't had any use whatsoever for them so far.

well theres different english names for each items... so iunno what you guys aiming for... like SD translation or the WYD one , i think most of the armors have different names on those 2 games , or your own translation :P

Preference towards the way someone who has recently played SD knows them, I guess. But in the end it doesn't really matter if a name isn't exactly the same as long as there's a name that players understand and can refer to.

If you have even the slightest temptation to help with it, please do. Even translating 10 names/lines is 10 things less for everyone else to do.

By the way, would anyone happen to have a translated itemlist.csv? English preferably, but brazilian would be great, too. It's sob that I had this all but one day removed everything.

Re: Let's set up a server.

What I'm currently doing is taking SD client's itemlists and making a prog to convert it to 6.13 itemlist.bin and .csv. So many more items there and perfect names. I will finish it tomorrow.

Re: Let's set up a server.

Well I finished the conversion tool, it takes itemlist.bin and itemnames.bin from the new client and makes itemlist.csv and itemlist.bin for the old server & client. So far so good, but because the new client had too large an itemlist, I had to "compress" the output, which further means that *every* item in the game will have a different item code from before. Not completely out of luck there, either, I made a quick conversion tool that converts all item codes on mobs to new ones...

To put this in short: 90% success. About half the meshes are where they should, which means I've done more right than wrong. I'll just have to start comparing why the rest of the items now have weird faces. :smilie3:

Re: Let's set up a server.

OK now, I'm not sure which will be more difficult, working with the compressed itemlist, having to adjust manymanymany codes and meshes, or working around server's limit of 3000 items, in which case I'd still have some codes to fix.

I'm kind of in favor of going with the compressed list though (lucky me, there are in total about 2,800 items) because then I don't have to spend days with the server files, debugging hundreds of lines of asm...

Has anyone looked into meshes much, I mean where is it said which meshes client should use?

Re: Let's set up a server.

So once again it's up to me to figure it all out, eh? Seems like there's a whole lot of debugging waiting for me... Lucky us, I find it fun to work this stuff out.

Actually it's the sole reason I'm even setting up a server, having to figure stuff out...
