A new private server incoming. need your help

Hey every1. I'm planning to create a new private server and i really got no clue how.
All i have is a VPS at the moment and alot of motivation.
Could any one explain me how to do it? Or give me a tutorial or a guide to it.
I can find a tutorial on the internet. but the download links are not working anymore.
Can any1 help?

Thats going to be an europian server btw. so ill let you know when its ready. and if someone from europe wanna be one of the crew, let me know.
