download this and look into it...there is a folder with the GTX2DDS and DDS2GTX tools :-)

you read this thread and looked in^^? (ok. link is a old link I think)
you need to convert the .gtx into .dds with this little tool ^,^

If you wanna change color then you will need to open the dds with photoshop. ( you need to know photoshop a bit)
you can also use xn-view or nero (means you dont need photoshop ;) )
there are some programms out ^,^you just need for the most a plugin to open .dds files ^,^
