    MSSQL 2000 enterprise > MSSQL 2005 express

Iam currently trying to upgrade from MSSQL 2000 enterprise to MSSQL 2005 express. i also change from windows xp to windows 7 ultimate. everything was working fine on windows xp but after i installed mssql 2005 express and added the databases there and made the odbc stuff i still cant connect to the database. i open auth server and write id: sa and the password i have chosen but the box just refresh or something, the point is that it does not connect, how do i solve this ? Thanks in advance.

i only had to configure user dsn and i recalled and then it automatically added it to the system dns, you should also make sure you are using SQL authentication and not windows. i am not 100% sure this matters, but its how mine is setup and it works on windows 7 64 bit and windows vista 64 bit

i got it to work i made the odbc to work on "user dsn" and not system dsn, but now that i reinstalled everything so i could remove mssql2000, i cant connect to the databases on sql 2005
