    Preventing remote server crashes

    Hey

SwordOnline has been coping with server crashes, even if nobody was playing. (MaxUser = 1, me alone ingame, still crash)

It doesnt happen right after the server starts, all guild members have been checked and all possible crash-causes have been eliminated (mix master, t&s)

The only option is that somebody is sending wrong packets to the server through the remote port or DDoS'ing it (but I've not noticed any connection floods)

Does anyone have an idea about which firewall or other protection can fix this?

    Thanks

    Bjorn

well i would reccomend Outpost firewall, its a server firewall that protects quite well (i use it and have never had issues)

is your kal server crashing? or your physical server?

    meh?

Socket error (#10055): No buffer space available.

    Analyse & Solutions:

An operation on a socket or pipe was not performed because the system lacked sufficient buffer space or because a queue was full. This error indicates a shortage of resources on your system. It can occur if you're trying to run too many applications (of any kind) simultaneously on your machine. If this tends to occur after running certain applications for a while, it might be a symptom of an application that doesn't return system resources (like memory) properly. It may also indicate you are not closing the applications properly. If it persists, exit Windows or reboot your machine to remedy the problem.

Re: [help] Preventing remote server crashes

yes i now how to stop dos hacks and i now how to secure.

Its always nice to make a dummy of your administrator account you have a policy for that inside windows 2003.
Make your administrator account somthing like admin_swordonline its much harder to hack.
Close all ports that dont need to be open, close all accounts that you dont use.Shutdown Services your dont use.
Fast blocking administrator account like when 3 times wrong block.
    Control your logs.

Install windows 2003 updates (service packs)
There is a website www.grc.com you can do a test there to see if you hack able.
Go to freeware then security and leaktest.

Detecting DDoS attack in Windows Server

How to detect DDoS in Windows:

The most common feature in a DDoS attack is the flooding of incoming packets
to the target system. You can find the current network connections using the
    command "NETSTAT"

NETSTAT is a command line utility which displays protocol statistics and
current TCP/IP network connections in a system.

Step1: Click Start >> Click Run >> Type cmd >> and then Click OK.

Step 2: At the command prompt, type netstat
