    in a local network its impossible to use you'r current ip ...

    how other ppl in a local network can see you'r hp?
    1.goto start->run type in CMD
    2. type in "ipconfig /all" without ""
    3. look at "Default Gateway" and there will be a ip like 192.168.1.1
    4. go to a other local computer (not the computer where xammp is running at) and type in : http://DefaultGateway ex: http://192.168.1.1 and it works ...

    go to you're router's http admin panel and forward port 80 on the pc that the site is running on.

    Wow dude, don't open all your ports! only open the ones you need :S and open port 80/8080 and forward to your server machine...

    See it like this:

    Your router has a IP, your router has alot of doors with numbers on them, called ports, now lets say you want to open a door(port) then you have to build a way for that port to lead somewhere, you lead it to a machine, that machine has a LOCAL ip, inside your LAN.

    So when a person connects to lets say port 80 (which is the default for webpages) then if the port = closed, sorry no information.
    If it's open = go to where it leads, now if you don't lead it to the machine hosting a webserver, he will try to connect to a machine that isn't sending out information, that would be as usefull as connecting it to a Gameboy. The router redirects the user to the right local machine.

    Hope this helped.

    Good Luck

    you can only run 1 server on port 80 per external ip... run your other pc's server on another port and add it to your router's virtual servers... then it should both work

    on the other pc, open httpd.conf with notepad, find Listen 80 and change it to Listen 8080 or so...

    then, go to your router menu, forward the 8080 port from that pc's ip just like you did with port 80.
