Perhaps it would be sensible to cache room items though, surely it'd make the server somewhat better in the long run. You could alternatively make it so the hotel owner can set whether it caches them or not...?
Less queries, the less your emulator has to go to the database to get the items. Which is why caching is so important and many people do not utilize its capabilities.
And then sockets are another thing.
