I'm changing the file types to .tpl after because when I was using .tpl in NetBeans the file contents kept having red lines and it was pissing me off...

@Jupos thanks for asking my question and Netbeans shouldn't stop you from using a file extension. I use Netbeans also and it keeps my html syntax in place.

I even have the plugin installed so I have no clue what's wrong with it, I'll just have to deal with it.
