[MySQL] "Towel Hotel" v14 Server & CMS

    v14 Source
Welcome to this sketchy looking thread. The deal is I'm attempting to create a large jumble of half coding nonsense that will somehow function as a working Habbo Retro..

But seriously, I'm starting with Usa111's source, and working in vb6.. You can't tell me thats not a mathematical equation for disaster. Regardless it's happening anyway.

The main changes I am making to the Source are as follows. Beware that this is very minimal in terms of making the source any better. It's still crap. However, it will be able to function as a ... something. The only thing I consider of any value in this project is the CMS.

    - Changing where (most) user information is stored from database/habbos to a mysql database.
    - Changing commands to accomodate changing password and a basic "cull" of the current commands.
    - Allowing for badge / credit donator shops. Also adding Donator Rank.
    - Completely re-organising and cleaning the catalogue and buy_furni files removing all customs and keeping only official furni.

    Custom Content Management

Now for something I care about. This CMS is not only able to be used for a habbo retro, but can be completely re-shaped into a different website with a new theme add-on and a few clicks into the SQL database. I highly doubt I will ever release it. However with that being said. I will most definitely release the server, database, and the source as well.

Approved! I really like the idea of revitalizing old school, but definitely move from VB6 bro.

Seems interesting, but the least you can do is move from VB6 to VB.NET as VB6 is deprecated.

Unfortunately I have neither the skill nor time to completely re-code the server. I'm doing minimal real coding as it is. Mainly commands, and as the thread explains, converting simple things to sql.

This may not be the most useful project but I feel this is the sort of attitude to a project more people need to have. If you're going to work on a project then you probably fit into one of the following categories.

    1. Make it better than what's out there.
      • Requires a fairly large amount of time.
      • Should be willing to to rewrite everything if you find a better way.

    2. Use it to practise and build your skills.
      • Doesn't have to be anything special.

    3. Do it as a hobby project.
      • Doesn't need any real reason or purpose - just because.
      • Some of the best things on the internet started as hobby projects.

For example: IHI/Bluedot fits into mostly 1 and 2 (with a little bit of 3).
    I approve!

P.S. I love your honesty. So many would try to make this out to be more useful than it is.

Must say I agree with your statements. This truly is nothing more than a hobby project to help try to develop my skills (PHP mostly).

V14 is a strange build to use, nothing much changed from 13. So why?

Re: [MySQL] "Towel Hotel" v14 Server & CMS

At first I wanted to build a classic Debbo v3.5 hotel. But it was unoriginal and I couldn't have the user community I desired. I then decided to download a Usa111 build and it happens to work just fine with the v14 dcrs as I can tell. I thought it could only handle up to v9 to be quite honest. If i run into errors I'll just have to track down some different DCRs.

    Edit:
    On a terrible side note..

Ive been a terrible stoner and deleted my sql databse twice today while fucking with my MYSQL version. I rebuilt it once today already so im saying screw it and ill fix it tomorrow. (Saved one table woot!)

I didn't saw the thread,it looks very good.
But well,if you need to use a VB6 source is not much better to use Debbo v3 than USA111?

I think is much better than USA111,it would be better if you do the same changes in the source of Debbo because is much more complete and stable, only it would be better if you fix some annoying things, like the green categories(it would be much better if it shows the rooms and categories the people who are inside) or that when a user is disconnected from the hotel,it stays in the room.

If you need it i can be part of the proyect,i can help you giving all the bugs of Debbo or USA 111,i worked a lot with them.
